Notes on Ribbons
Just an update on ribbon nominations. We are completely re-doing the way we track ribbon nominations and are trying to streamline the process. The new intention will be to cut down the wait time on awarding ribbons, providing they are approved. I know a lot of you think your nominations go ignored, but please rest assured that they definitely do not. Our new tracking method will also make it very easy for us to see all nominations for a person over any time period and that will factor into the awarding of the ribbon. For example, I know one guy who has been nominated 4 or 5 times for defense in like a 3 week period.
I would also like to give some advice when submitting nominations.
Be descriptive! Some write-ups are extremely detailed, it makes it very easy to award the ribbon because the person who sent it in put more than 10 seconds into writing it.
Cite examples on things the person did through the map/maps that helped you achieve your objectives. Did your medic provide key revives on assault or defense? Did your spec ops guy take out key bridges and keep them down the whole map, or keep enemy assets down? Did your squad leader use his squad effectively based on the kits he had to successfully take over a CP? Did your SL utilize resources successfully to defend a hot CP the whole round? Details, details! The more details you give the better the chances are that the ribbon will be awarded.
Always try to include the date/time/map with your submissions.
Submit nominations even if you think someone else has done so. The more a person gets, the easier it is to have hard evidence of why that person deserves the ribbon. Don’t just assume someone else is submitting the nomination. If everyone does this, people won’t get the recognition they deserve.
Nominations don’t have to be from “scrims only”, it can be from anytime you are playing on the TG server.

He frequently went above and beyond the call of duty by volunteering for tasks that others may have found boring.
Occasionally I find myself leading a squad in which one of the members is constantly giving his own opinion on what we should do and how we should do it. This makes me feel uncomfortable as a Squad Leader. xxxxx always shows the SL respect by asking for his permission before he carries out any task he hasn't been specifically assigned to. By asking permission like this he is setting an example for other squad members to follow. This allows the SL to feel more confident and IN CONTROL of his squad.
He has a very pleasant and friendly manner. He welcomes new members to the squad and is very patient with them. Today (Oct 17) on Mashtuur, a new member joined our squad. This person seemed very young and inexperienced but xxxxx was extremely helpful to this person. He displayed the epitome of TG play by is maturity and teamwork.
On one of the maps today my squad was getting slaughtered. Whenever we spawned we would be bombed or artillery would land on us. Whenever we did stay alive long enough to move toward our objective I (the SL) would end up getting killed. This process would repeat over and over. I was beginning to get frustrated by the constant bombings etc. Despite the pounding our squad was receiving xxxxx managed to change the mood of our squad. He cracked a few jokes and had us all laughing as artillery explosions launched our bodies high into the sky. He did not get annoyed by me constantly calling for him to revive me. When I apologized for dieing all the time he would make excuses for me and made me feel much more comfortable and relaxed.
xxxxx shows what TG is all about by his ability to carry out orders, by being disciplined and loyal and conducting himself in a friendly and helpful manner always.
xxxxx deserves recognition for his Conduct and is an excellent example to all tacticalgamers. |
I chose this example because I feel it’s the
absolute best submission we have had. They don’t all have to be that detailed, but something like this is a “no brainer” when it comes to issuance. I don’t care if there are a few misspellings or grammar issues, not everyone speaks English as a native language.

You get the idea. We’re not asking you to write a book, but some good details go a long way when it comes to awarding ribbons.
