Exclamation Re: New "Crysis" driver 169.09 out for Nvidia cards

Hello to all.

Last night I did some experiments with the new beta driver and the game settings.

The system:

OS: WXP 32bits SP2
MB: Gigabyte
CPU: P4 3,4GHz
GPU: 8800GTS 320MB
RAM: 4GB DDR2 Dual Channel
HDD: SATA
Crysis graphics settings: All to "HIGH" with no AA
Resolution: 1440 x 900 (native monitor resolution)
Aspect Ratio: 19:10
Monitor: Widwscreen Samsung LCD 19"
nVidia Control Panel settings: All settings defined for "high quality"

The results:

I did not measure the actual FPS (too lazy), but I noticed a small overall improvement over the non-beta driver.

But the most important discovery was this:

I loaded a level (from previous save) and soon after the level was loaded and displayed on screen, I noticed the same performance as before the beta driver. But after 30 seconds or more, the game seemed to perform better and the overall feel and player mouse movement was better. What is this ????

I did this test many times with different level saves and the results was the same.

After 30 secs - 1 min from the level load, the game runs OK (for my taste and system anyway). In these initial seconds, the game was not so responsive.

The odd thing is that I did not noticed this behaviour defore. With the non-beta driver, the game seemed to performed the same at all times, I mean I did not noticed that small performance "boost" after the initial 30" - 1min level load period. I have to downgrade the driver and test again to verify this but I will not . Maybe I get used to the game... I don't know...

Have any of you experienced the same issue ?

Someone to do a more scientific test ?

To conclude, I think the beta drivers will improve the performance of the game in general. However, don't expect miracles...

Regards.
