Great news that TG will pursue AoC as the next role playing game. I was pretty oblivious to this title until I started reading FatKid's posts on this forum. The more I read about AoC, the more I'm intrigued and excited to play it.

I usually grow bored with all the MMORPG's I've played in the past due to the repetition style of gaming. I believe AoC won't be like the others and will open a new style that will grab me for a long time...that's the hope anyway.

Oh yea, any game that has drunken brawls has got to be good!

Re: New to Age of Conan or TG? Drop a "HI"

I've been following Age of Conan since '05 when I saw a bit of the game at E3. The game was in a corner section of one of the main halls and I remember walking by the booth and saying this looks cool, an MMO based on the Conan lore. I've always liked the Conan universe as I remember reading the comic books years ago and of course the movie with Schwarzenegger which most gamers will be familiar with.

I have never played an MMO (not entirely accurate as I played a small amount of D+D online) to any extent so I'm sort of green to the whole experience. What attracted me to Age of Conan were multiple reasons:

-One of the first MMO's that has a mature rating.
-A low fantasy setting that has a dark story line.
-Combat will be more interactive with players fighting in real time rather than using auto-attack.
-Combat is extremely brutal - decapitations, plenty of blood, etc. Though used in a manor that fits into the Conan universe. Read one of Howards stories of Conan and it's a brutal world.
-Mounted combat - you can attack while ON your horse, mammoth or rhino!
    -Wide range of character selection.
-A varied and interesting world - jungles, deserts, mountains, swamps, great plains, dungeons. The world of Hyboria has quite a bit of different geography which keeps things fresh.
-Ability for players to build and maintain fortifications.
    -Siege warfare!
-NO elves or dwarfs! If one of them takes a wrong turn from another MMO you can always decapitate them!

Haven't got the game, just surfing through TG but I'm considering it now...looks interesting.

Sup guys, recently ive been having trouble running advanced games but now with my new graphics card im hoping to be with you guys cutting, stomping, burning, etc. in AOC.

Question: You do have to pay money monthly to play this game right?

Hi Hollow - No better way to break that new card in than with Age of Conan! Yes, the game will require a monthly subscription fee as yet to be determined. The developers have stated it should be in the range of other MMO's - $15 - $20 a month.

I am probly going to ive AoC a try but I think i will be sticking with Anarchy-online just for the fact that it has a social structure and more futureistic aspect. Plus if you listen to Gridstream production's ingame radio you can win free ingame credz and have them throw paties for your org.

But I am interested how AoC is gonna play out. Looks interesting. But mabe a little more pvp oriented than I like.

Re: New to Age of Conan or TG? Drop a "HI"

    I'm Blackmain.

Been playing some COD 4 while I wait to upgrade my computer with a better graphics card. So I can play World in Conflict and ArmA with graphics that I can stand.

I was a huge SWG player way back in the day. Played WoW for awhile and hated it. Played Eve for some time and loved and/or hated it(still not sure). Was in the Tabula Rasa beta and ended up not liking it. But this game seems to bring forth all the things I loved about the different MMO's in the past. Hope it can live up to what I am thinking it will be.

The hungry, ignorant man immediately grasps that he is handed a fish, but is bewildered when handed a net. The man who shivers in the cold thinks happily of the man who invites him to sit by his fire, and somewhat poorly of the man who loans him an axe, flint and steel.

OMG now you know where I live!!!

Lol, that's awesome, (btw, I love the Matrix too, is that why it's saying "there is no spoon"...? Or is that not part of the script...?)

Hmm played WoW for a while might get into this, beta or not to beta. WoW was the first mmorpg I played seriously, then I ran out of money , lost interest and no Euro TG server. Is there any details yet about payments or if there will be any?

Hi daithi, welcome! Monthly subscription has yet to be determined but should be around other MMO's pricing structure.

If your playing in Ireland I believe you will be on a European server. I'm uncertain there will be cross server playing, American/European for example, but that may change. Maybe we can buy you an American version of the game

I know why they do this and I respect them for it but it really annoy's me as this is what holds me back from buying more mmorpg. I am in Florida at Easter so I might get a copy then if the release date holds.
