How do you sign up for a Key? Is there a button or something on the Beta page on Fileplanet when keys are available, or is there somewhere you need to sign up?

Yes, sign up on the FilePlanet site. You will need to subscribe in order to receive a key.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm thinking you may have to monitor the site for keys that are ready to be given away. Or, they just send an e-mail saying you have a key. I'm not sure which.

The question is, what does that mean? The guys who signed up first will get keys first, or they guys who happen to be on the site when the keys are released and click a button will get keys first?

I find it dissapointing that neither persistence nor willingness to commit gross violence seem to increase my chances of getting into the beta.

If you are a paying member and go to the site when the registration is open then its first come first serve. You get a key as soon as you sign up for the beta (when it is available). You have to keep hammering the F5 button untill the specific time the page is open.

I have my beta key already but I saw this offer from a gaming website for 15 free beta keys that could be distributed. http://www.curse.com/articles/details/9185/

Guilds, this beta key giveaway is for you! We've received beta keys from Funcom and will be giving them out to 20 guilds in total, with each guild getting their hands on 15 beta keys to give out to their members, at their discretion.

The keys can then be used to enter the Closed Beta of Age of Conan, where you'll have access to the entire game with no level cap and can contribute to the final phase of bug-finding and feature testing prior to launch. Age of Conan may have gone gold already, but that doesn't mean the testing stops here! MMOs continue on even after release, so any data you can help Funcom compile will be infinitely useful for the future of the game.

Great, so how do I sign up?
Signing up for the giveaway is easy; simply send an email to aocguildbeta@curse.com with the subject "Guild Beta Entry: <your guild name>" along with the following information in the body of the email, to be eligible for consideration:

What are your guild's goals in Hyboria? Are you looking to get down and dirty in the siege warfare, or do you want to raid? Maybe you're a crafting guild or want to do PvP mini-games -- tell us!
Your guild's name.
Your guild's website URL.
The size of your guild.
Previous games your guild has played (if applicable).
Contact email where we can send the keys if your guild is chosen.
Rules
Age of Conan is still under NDA. As such, you must agree to the NDA prior to downloading the game and playing it, and agree that you will not disclose the beta process or Age of Conan publicly until Funcom and Eidos give consent by releasing the NDA.
Only the guild leader, or a guild officer may submit an entry.
Duplicate entries will be deleted.
The person entering the guild into the giveaway will be notified upon completion date of giveaway with all information on how to enter the beta.
We'll begin giving out the beta keys on Saturday, April 26th, 2008 -- just in time for some weekend fun in Hyboria -- so get your submissions in fast!

Definitely worth applying for, I'm also a member of The Older Gamers (TOG) community and they just got 15 free keys!

I would hope it goes live later in the day... just because I don't get off school until 3 and I couldnt get my mom to call me off lol. Don't know though, check the forums maybe?

Servers will go live today (May 1st) at 0900 EST. I think I'm gonna play a bit of hooky from work... at least in the morning.
