DX10 vs. DX9
Is there any word about what the quality difference between DX10 and DX9 might be for AoC? I've looked through the FAQ about tech features, and perused through the forums (trying to use that search with the anti-spam image is frustrating as hell), but I haven't found much.
I'll be running it on a fairly new system (built back in Dec/Jan), but I'm still running WinXP and thus DX9. I don't treasure the thought of upgrading to Vista unless the difference will be like night and 10 days ago. Just wondering if anyone has heard more details.

Re: DX10 vs. DX9
I was wondering that myself. However, it's sort of a moot point for me as I have XP-DX9 and it will probably be awhile before I upgrade. I'm almost positive that most of the videos have been taken using DX9 and the game still looks great.

Re: DX10 vs. DX9
Im looking at buying a new video card with DX10. I'll still get all the usage out of DX10 without vista right?
Right now im running with a Nvidia 7600gt. 3 gigs of Ram. Intel core 2 duo 6400 at 2.13GHz.
Im thinking about getting a Nvidia 9 series. Any suggestions?

Re: DX10 vs. DX9
Right on, then ill just wait and buy a entirely new system with vista on it and keep this one without. The rest of my family uses vista and are satisfied with it. Im sure i wont notice it's minor flaws. I meen, in the long run we'll all need to eventually switch over - right?

Re: DX10 vs. DX9
Keep in mind (just in case you didn't know), your hardware also has to support DX10 as well. You'll need both a DX10 video card and Vista for DX10 support. If you're buying a complete system, just make sure it all matches up, though I'd imagine that most pre-packaged gaming rigs do these days.

Re: DX10 vs. DX9
Correct. If Conan runs DX9 (I haven't checked specs) then just stick with Windows XP. The difference between 9 and 10 isn't really all that apparent. Service Pack 1 is out, but I haven't tested it completely myself. Being the skeptic, I'd say wait till Service Pack 2. hehe.

Re: DX10 vs. DX9
From what I've read, Conan runs on both DX9 and DX10 just fine. Supposedly the game is made specifically to take advantage of what DX10 can really do, however, which would be one of the very first games out to do so. Many games now seem to support DX10, but don't really take advantage of its power. One of the selling points for Conan is that it will.
