Do we need a Guild Application sticky?
What are everyone's thoughts on this? Do players need to fill out an application to join our Guild? Is this something that is necessary? Obviously, all players should adhere to the TG primer but I don't want players to feel like they have to qualify or meet specific requirements to join above and beyond the willingness to play as a team.

Re: Do we need a Guild Application sticky?
Generally what I've encountered for guild "applications" aren't really all that bad. It's usually a form of questions that the guild leadership puts together to get some basic information about the prospective player. Here's an example:
1) Character name, class
2) Ability build, crafting skills, etc
3) We raid on the following days and times (day/time), does this fit your schedule?
4) Tell us a bit about yourself, what you do and why you play
Obviously this is a very lite version. But the purpose of the application is usually just to get a basic feel for a random incoming person that you haven't played all that much with. If they look promising, then they usually get looked up in the game and brought along for some test rides.

I like what Tarpan had to say. If nothing else it gives you something to get to know the person.

Ok, we will put something up. I'll think of verbage besides "Application" which denotes submitting a resume for a job. Nobody wants to play a job.
Any thoughts on a title Sticky let me know.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: Do we need a Guild Application sticky?
General get to know you questions like I posted above would be good, along with what other MMO's/games people have played. As time goes on and we know more about the game and what's necessary to do things within, the application will need to be modified and tweaked.

Re: Do we need a Guild Application sticky?
Generally speaking with the initial release we should have an open door policy. More along the lines of 'post here with your info so we can compile a list and send you an invite' sorta thing.
Applications are more towards the mid-end stages of the game since there are only so many spots to fill in raids and group activities that having a surplus of one speciality and not enough of another (IE More 'rogues' than 'priests' archetypes for an utter lack of healing) ends up being detrimental since that surplus gets to sit on their hands and/or meander around while everyone else hits the instances/PvP competitions. My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.

Re: Do we need a Guild Application sticky?
I opened the Guild Application sticky. Please keep to the ten questions listed. Obviously, some of the questions will be difficult to answer as we are a few weeks out until launch but you can always edit your post in the future. The Guild and Sticky are works in progress so if you have suggestions please post here(and not in the actual Guild sticky):
