Personally I'd prefer something less generic/real-world than "Tactical Gamer", if for nothing else than it seems a little boring when you put it into the Conan world. :P But if that's what we go with, that's what we go with.

Everyone: Saying the name is boring, generic, etc, without offering a suggestion of the name you'd like does not do the Guild any good. Please post a name.

Well, I already posted a suggestion way back: Ars Excellens. I also wouldn't mind "Taktiko" either. I'd recommend staying away from any name coming straight out of the Conan works for numerous reasons, not the least of which being that there will be 100 other guilds trying to get the exact same name.

I must say, as time goes on I'm starting to lean towards "Taktiko," "Venatus," or "Taktiko Venatus." It just sounds frikkin cool and fits with the lore.

Granted, having had my own super-large SWG guild named "Maris Paradis," after awhile it was apparent people were a bit off-put by the fact that the parent guild's name was actually "Paradise Found." However, further on down the road it mattered not because the guild ended up birthing other cities and small factions each with their own name. I think eventually it ended up "Paradise Found" with simply different city names.

In reality, those enterprising individuals who are truly curious about our guild will just google the name and be able to find the parent website.

Now... another thing that is GROSSLY important that no one has brought up yet:
If we're to be on a PvP server, it'd be a huge advantage to have a guild name NOT easily found online... this is another reason I'm leaning to the former ideas. If we simply named the guild "tactical gamer" our prey would find us and our site rather easily and it's likely we'd have to lock a forum down for strategic purposes (something that may happen anyways, especially when organizing attack on opposing cities).

This is another reason I thought it'd be cool to have an "offshoot" merc guild that secretly worked for the main guild. As they could operate with anonymity.

Lets say you're walking around in town (or in the wilderness) and see another player (I don't know about the open beta but in closed beta were able to make guilds). Under that players name is their guild name in brackets. So yes, the guild must be named. There is a entire in-depth guild system inside the game.

I would be all for a latin or greek name if we were in a RolePlaying server. But it doesn't seem like were rolling that way. 'Tactical gamer' would fit in nice under anyone's name. And it's not like the name would stand out as odd or anything. Be prepared to see people in guilds that have names that have nothing to do with gaming, not to mention the Conan lore...

As far as other people looking at Tactical Gamer and trying to spy on us. As stated above - a private forum would solve just that. I would rather someone say "Oh boy! Theres Tactical Gamer lets get out of here!" instead of "Oh boy! Theres T-t-t Teh-.. Tack-eee-tooow lets run!" "No Scott. I believe it's pronouced Taktiko, like 'taco' and 'to go'."
... You get the idea... Ease of Pronouncing and Spelling are key.

The merc guild is not a bad idea, if the time comes to need one.
