I choose PvP. The reasons I'm choosing PvP are due to the increased amount of coordination required when playing on such server. Ganks will without a doubt be an issue, but hwen you have a strong guild to back you up, it makes it that much more fun. Ah, revenge is great.

Furthermore, AoC was designed as a PvP based game (and originally included the ability to start at level 20, once you had been thru Tortage once). I think for this reason, we can expect that PvP will offer the most fun and excitement, as well as the most frustration.

I am STRONGLY in favor of pvp. This is robert howard's legacy folks. Life was dangerous, and most people were trying to kill you somehow. PvP keeps you on your guard, and victories are sweeter.

I choose PvE, someone always has better equipment out there, which is why I hate PvP.

PvP. Cause, to me, that is the most important part of any MMO.

Not having any experience to speak of in an MMO I choose either. I will want to try both play styles. In a PVP server do you still attack NPC's?

    Quick notes:

AoC is very lenient on itemization, especially with regards to PvP. The devs have stated multiple times they want skill to win out over equipment in PvP. There is actually PvP and PvE rated equipment as well. In an interview a developer stated they broke the equipment up so they could have better control over the amount of bonus you get from PvE equipment in PvP and how big the bonuses are on the PvP equipment.

PvP servers contain all the same PvE (NPC) content. The only difference is that players can attack players everywhere (outside of main cities) instead of just in the border kingdoms.

Yup. Everything that is in the PvE server is in the PvP server. Every zone, every dungeon, every npc.

And just to state something so everyone is on the same page.

At launch, Funcom will only be providing one type of PvP server (other than the roleplaying sever). It will be Free For All, meaning, if you are outside the city gates and run into someone who is not in your squad/group/party you can attack him for what ever reason you see fit (you don't even need a reason).
I'm in the closed beta and made a charecter on the PvP server. Running around on the 'white sand beach' area with about 20-50 other people in the same zone was not difficult to get my quests completed. I got ganked once or twice while spending maybe up to an hour in the zone. But the countless times that i just walked right past a fellow player without any problems is uncountable.

Re: Which server-type do you wish to house the TG guild?

Are you still on the CB PvP server? I have a level 15 DT if you want to group up or something (assuming you aren't way out of my level range). Character name is Vadaen

I can pretty much echo Humvee's experience. I've been ganked twice in White Sands, and once in the Underhalls. I haven't killed anyone yet, just doing my own thing, though I did catch one of the guys that ganked me low on health and I tried to kill him, but he still killed me (6/7 level difference). I don't count that as a gank...

It is always interesting when you run by someone though as everyone is fairly cautious and watches every move they make. It's interesting when you decide to help someout out as well, because your blade or weapon of choice can/will damage them if you aren't grouped so you have to be careful.

I'm willing to bet that as the level and equipment quality difference expands, ganking will become worse. Aside from that, it's less about getting ganked all the time, and more about getting ganked at inopportune times that creates frustration.

I voted for PvE because I've played on PvP servers in WoW and I absolutely hated every minute of it. Things were sooo much better when I realized that I could go out and quest to my heart's content without having to constantly worry about getting attacked. I'm not anti-PvP, I just prefer choosing when I participate. With a PvE server there will still be mini-games and the larger borderlands conflict, so that's perfect for me.

I'm thinking it'd be in the best interest of TG to run 2 guilds, one on a PvP server, one on a PvE server...

Quite frankly... that's not a very feasible idea. There doesn't seem to be enough TG people involved at this point to make that an attractive option.

And I doubt that FatKid wants to manage two guilds.

Re: Which server-type do you wish to house the TG guild?

Obviously the guilds would be managed by more than one person. TG grows when it does things like this. It isn't just TG players that will be playing. TG will pickup players no matter if they have one or two guilds...

I agree it's not ideal, but I'm being a baby (read: I'm not playing on PvE, no way no how - and I know others echo that mentality)

Yes, but I can guarantee you, once the game goes live this will change.

In the Betas I played (Lineage2, WoW, Shadowbane, etc...) it was how you mentioned it. Very little ganking. Everyone doing their merry little PVE thing... then, once it went live, you had roaming bands of gankers preying on anyone who was alone. You couldn't go out to quest unless you had 2 or 3 friends along with you.

That may sound fun to some, but I'd rather not deal with having to fight pitched battles all the time just to go do quests for experience, or to enter a raid-instance, or to walk over to another town.
