Ummm...a little confused?
I've been lurking in this forum since it was added. I'm considering getting AoC, but I'm a little reluctant after trying to help others get LOTR off the ground for TG and watching it fade to nothing. I'm not really interested in playing another MMO with about 2-4 people on randomly so....I guess these are my questions:
What is the consensus for servers? Looking through most of the threads it looks like TG is going to be spread over 3 (really 3?) servers. Are the selections for the TG guild server final, or are you guys (whoever is mostly in charge) still kind of working things out?
Are these servers that are chosen early release servers? Basically, are they going to be close to full when a bunch of TGers try to join post release?
What are the (rough) numbers of TG members expected to be on each of the 3 servers we have stuff goin on?
Thanks for any answers. I'm not trying to question anything, just trying to get a feel if this is worth my time...after how terrible FFOW and LTRO have worked out for me - heh.Long Live the 2nd BCT and 1st MIP

I hear you Jusb. There's been a lot of time to iron these things out, but I'm still a little confused at the direction TG is taking with AoC.

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
TG will have a PvP server and a PvE server. Serveral mebers of the 3rd have decided to make their own RP-PvP guild. So essetially there is three but only two are strictly 'TG'.

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
"There's been a lot of time to iron these things out" Really? The game was just released today (for those with early access) and many details FunCom has been quite about. Many players, including myself, have yet to play the retail game. It may time some time to flesh things and see what direction we are taking with AOC.
Jusb, welcome, and to your questions:
Two servers have been picked: PVP and PVE for the main TG Guild. The 3rd has opted to play the PVP-RP server and start a Guild with their own forums. If you want to play on an PVP-RP server I recommend you join them. The main TG forum Guild will be PVP and PVE. I opted to have both a PVP and PVE to satisfy 50% of the player base as we took a poll and it was roughly down the middle (I saw very few hands raised for PVP-RP if any). Take your pick on which you want to play. I personally will try both PVP and PVE.
Right now we are fleshing out where we want to be: PVP, PVE or perhaps PVE-RP. I cannot give you specific details on where we will end up the game was just released hours ago. Hopefully we can accomdate everyone's play stlye and not drive away players.
Will Age Of Conan be a success here at TG? We hope so and are trying to promote the game, get players excited and provide an atomsphere where everyone can find a server and play type. Stay tuned.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
Unfortounatly it looks that way. Although there hasn't been time to chat about all the PvP people going to the RP-PvP server to join the 3rd.
I think this is the most logical answer, as it is a win-win situation.
The PvE players are the minority, but you can't blame their desire to explore without getting ganked.

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
hey jusb,
well 1st thing first LOtro is no AOC, those that played lotro simply tried new mmo or were/are fans of tolkien, it has zero pvp(I dont count monster play).
AoC is 1st mmo with lots and lots of pvp options, more then any mmo since shadowbane it appears.
We have a large TG following for AoC, quiet a few are in early access (hows that going btw
), the only reason if the game dies if Seige battles (end game) utterly fails.

Beta / early access people are guinea pigs. They use us to gather data about how their hardware will hold up, software problems, etc.

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
You must have not read my post above you. Secondly, your the one who said "Well, seeing as the radical PvE players have a stronger point than the radical PvP players (that including myself) ill switch my PvP vote over to PvE."

Now, you want everyone on the PVP-RP sever? Now, I'm confused.Last edited by TheFatKidDeath; 05-17-2008 at 04:56 PM.

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
Considering you posted it 2minutes before me- no i didnt see it.

But we still didn't solve anything. The change from PvP to RP-PvP is... well... pretty much no change at all. Why not just boot the whole PvP server idea out and make it RP-PvP.
For Tfkd's defense, we truely tried to iron things out. It takes people voicing opinions and developers words to get everything straight before hand. Honoestly, i think we did a good job, it's hard to satisfy everyone.
As far as the newly introduced culture pvp... i say screw it. It's still in the works and i can bet you that the Bane server is going to be Funcom's dirty gueinne pig.
You know why i switched my vote.... because i wanted everyone on the same server. But now since we've decided to seperate ill go with what my heart desires, PVP, and since 3rd has settled on a server, why not join them?

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
You can't please everyone. In my opinion, you should pick one direction to go. If the game is strong, folks wont care what rule set they play under as long as they're playing with TG.
I'm afraid that fractioning in the very beginning will hurt the chances of either TG guild to succeed.~~ Veritas simplex oratio est ~~

Re: Ummm...a little confused?
If a game is wack, there's nothing you can do to keep numbers in-game. LotRO was/is a pretty good game, but the gameplay was pretty stale for much of the beginning and hence participation suffered. TR had GREAT gameplay from the get-go, but the game got stale and grindy later on and poof... no more participation - even with HEAVY recruiting.
So far with AoC... I think we have a winner here. It's not gonna be hard to fill the ranks. If they're not filled it's because someone dropped the ball. Regardless, even if the ranks get thin you've got the 3rd on the RP server (Cimmeria) and FocusedGaming on the PvE server (Zug) to play with. You've also got Alliances (with website support) already being formed to help people find groups and keep protected on PvP servers. So no worries.
