Class choice
So looking at the classes, and trying to pick one out. Last mmorpg I really played way FFXI, had a lot of fun playing black mage, ranger, and dark knight. Which are basically all the real damage dealers. But I guess what I am really looking for is two things.
1: Damage, not really DOT. But big individual hits, ones where you are fighting in the group and you see the mobs HP drop and you know it was your doing. Mage was great at this in FFXI, as well as ranger.
2: Lots to manage, I like to have to watch a bunch of things and balance and rebalance play style based on what is happening. Red Mage and Dark Knight from FFXI kind had that aspect.
But I also kind want a melee/combo class because I feel that is a unique part of AOC. So I was looking into Barbarian and Ranger for the big shot damage class...demonologist too but it seem like that is not quit the big boom mage type. Also looking at dark templar, to manage HP and drain and such...but it does not seem like much of a damage class.

Re: Class choice
For input, I rolled a Dark Templar last night to help a buddy through the newbie zone. I would say they have a little similarity to the DRK in FFXI, as they're all about stealing life from enemies as they do damage. Their damage isn't crazy good, but I was able to routinely take on 3-4 mobs of my level or just below if I used a health potion at the start of the fight and made sure to keep on top of my life draining combos. Keep in mind, the DT is a tank class, though it can hybrid out as a dps class as well.
If you want to see big damage chunks go away from each combo, assassin does pretty well at this. That's my main, and there's nothing like watching 3/4 of a mobs life disappear from a sneak attack or a powerful combo. They are fragile people, though, and can't stand in the fight toe to toe for too long without the right feats or playstyle.

On the other forums they said HoX is pretty good for damage bursts.

Re: Class choice
I'm looking for the best toon for healing in raid's and party's for this game. Ive tried a Priest of Mitra to 30 and it doesn't seem too healing friendly to other player's.

Re: Class choice
Actually you should definetly roll an assasin.
Assasins have VERY good DPS, especially against Spellcasters and light armour. Your combos, timing and effect all have to be managed, down to the last second.
Your biggest defence is stealth, and cunning. You uncloak, punce and vanish into shadows before anyone knows what happened. I think this gives assasins that extra bit of edge which you might like.
Id say the second best thing is rolling a barbarian, the DPS is good, but again they are quite weak whne it comes to tanking and armour, but stronger than sassins.
Extinct I am sure priest of Mitra are best healers, but you need a good tank too, perhaps the problem is that you havent gotten good skills yet and that you need someone in plate armour to tank for you.

Re: Class choice
As far as I know, Priest of Mitra is the class most heavily based around healing, although a lot of other guys around here said that it's more than just standing there being the guy with the medikit, they can do their own bit of damage too. (Check the posts below this one, replies from Nemesis, Turbinator and Gambit (and a few others I think).)
