**Important info. on Mounts**
http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthr...346#post802346
Of note: speed increases for horses.... and we WONT need "Basic Riding" to buy a horse if we've already got pre-order mounts (saves a gold). Also, we wont be getting knocked off as easily so maybe mounted combat will be more viable in normal questing circumstances.

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
I'm on the cusp of getting my Mammoth (Lvl 39). It would be kind of cool if we all ran as a party around Hyboria on our mounts. Has anyone tried mounted combat yet? I'm anxious to try it out.

Mount combat right now is pretty useless.

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
unfortunately he is right, atm it sucks, you get knocked off the mount in about 1 or 2 shots easy, plus mainly the speed of the horses.
As for horse speed increase that was inevitable, horse runs barely faster then ur character does without using speed burst, with speed burst u leave it in the dust, that was just not right.
That means I can buy a horse today woot
, just hit 2g last night.

Found this:

As with normal (melee) combat, where you gain addition attack directions at level 40 (as an example), we wanted to introduce it to the players gradually; first by allowing you to ride on the very basest of mounts and do basic attacks (swinging your sword, casting some spells, firing your bow) and, at a later point, by giving you better horses (armored vs. normal) and skills that, at least in my head, proves that you're a better rider that can utilize your mount as a weapon.
Unfortunately, due to a bit of internal miscommunication just before launch, the abilities were linked to the incorrect skills. It was fixed internally just after launch, but not patched out straight away. There were many reasons for this, and one of them is that we wanted to address the concerns people had about mounts being too slow and nail down the bug that caused people to be forcibly dismounted way too often. Said patch is "just around the corner" now, and although I cannot give an exact date you should see both the bug-fixes, the "buff(s)" and the "nerf(s)" pretty soon.
In closing I would also like to say that I can understand why some people will be upset about this "nerf", and for this I can only apologize on behalf of both myself and Funcom. We do however think that, for the long run, correcting this mistake and bringing mounted combat more in line with our intial design will be the best solution.|TG-9th| TheFatKidDeath

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
Reached Lvl 40 and my Mammoth mount. Cool animation – mounting/dismount, walking, attacking. Sort of what I expected on the run speed for a Mammoth. Nice to see they kept it realistic and in proportion how quickly they can move. If you want a fast mount then the Mammoth is not for you. Though it is a bit faster than going on foot so at least you get a bit faster travel. Would sort of be a bit much to see the thing running around as fast as a horse and that’s what I think players were expecting. I believe the intention with the mount was to use it in siege warfare and not roaming around attacking mobs. I’ll have to do some more attacking with it and see what kind of damage I’m getting. I did get knocked off a few times but there is a +1500(?) knockback resistance so I’m wondering how that applies.

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
The special siege abilities for the mammoth arent available till end-game. The attacks you see arent all that's there.
As for the Horses, there's a million different kinds with different attributes... some fast, some armoured, some +attack, etc. The skill of the rider is also a determinant factor. (i.e. u need to BUY advanced riding, etc.)

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
I've got a Mamoth, and when I turned 40, tried it out, and found it pretty useless (before the speed adjustment), and got knocked off pretty easily.
I bought the basic training, because I read that I needed it to do battle with the Mamoth. After buying the training, I got some new options for mounted fighting. The Mamoth only had a couple fighting options, and it had to be facing its target, but the horse had some sweet ones, mainly a rear kick that knocked back everything behind it.
The damage was still pretty useless, so I stuck to the horse for my need for speed.
After the speed boost patch, I went back to try to do battle with my mounts, and found that the fighting options (where the mount is actually causing the damage) had been removed. Not sure if the basic riding skill still is still supposed to allow us to fight off our mounts.
Either way, seems like a gold wasted...

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
Interesting. I've been using my Mammoth for attacking and I rarely get knocked back(this is post last patch). Before the last patch I would get knocked off frequently and by all sorts of opponents. For me anyway, the last patch made all the difference. With my Mammoth I seem to be averaging 100-200 a hit.

Re: **Important info. on Mounts**
First level training (got it pre-patch) had charge and sweep for the mamoth. The horses had charge, trample, and a couple of others, and all mount attacks were knockbacks. I dont think we get that anymore.
It's still nice to have a mount..
