    Ars Tactika: Who are we?

If somebody asked us to describe our guild, what would you say?

Yeah, there's the usual "teamwork" and "maturity" answers, but hey, were on an RP server. There's got to be more to us than just being TG on AoC.

    What do we fight for?
Why do we have a city in Poitain?
What are our goals and values?

Nearly every guild in the game is going to have the same in-game goals. Sieges, leveling, city building, world PvP. What sets us apart? We need a unique selling point.

Are we "defenders of the faith" serving mitra to protect the abused and the innocent?
Are we a militia, standing up to "King" Conan's throne. (For the Republic!)

What other ideas do you all have. I kinda like the second one, it gives us an excuse to be an armed fighting force, biding for territory. And allows us to value things like honor for those in need, while mercilessly slaughtering those who oppose us. Plus the idea of a republic in hyborea is amusing and stands out.

Perhaps a Military Academy? We strive to turn out the single most capable competent warriors in the land of Hyborea. We take on recruits of any race, with any method of combat..and hone them into a finely trained, viciously effective fighting force? It's something that would fit in the world, would allow plenty of freedom for individual choice in roleplaying, and suits the name wonderfully.

Brilliant. I like it. Now what is our cause? The thrill of battle? People dont fight and die because it's a homework assignment.

Our cause are many: loyalty to our Guild, death to our enemies, respect and honor of our alliances and the never ending desire for a fatality.

Re: Ars Tactika: Who are we?

We can start off as a fledgling Military Academy, the first in all Hyborea. Word has spread and new conscripts are coming from far and wide to enroll (thats right, not apply) into the Adademy to hone their combat skills and warfare leadership. Some seek entry to Conan's elite Black Dragons, and others the spoils of war as independant mercenaries. The faculty cares not, and demands only in 10% of your earings to cover your tution, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to become one of Hyborea's elite.

It gives us a unique story, and justifies just about any combat actions we take as training excercises and war games. It could be alot of fun. What do you think?

Re: Ars Tactika: Who are we?

Aye. And academies at this point in time aren't just a school but a general place of knowledge and learning. Even people who have mastered the art of war will stick around...to hone their skills, to keep up with the newest strategies and tactics, constantly keeping the keen edge on their abilities and knowledge.

The ties that bind us will be a mutual desire to hone our skills, be they in blade, bow, or spellcraft, and to utilize these skills and the knowledge learned to prove ourselves to be the best of the best. There are obviously ties of loyalty and cooperation amongst our peers, as we're working towards the same goals, and in the brutal world of hyborea, any allies come in handy..particularly others as skilled in warfare as yourself...but many will have separate goals and aspirations.

It would be nice if we could also work in some kind of weekly "training exercise"/roleplaying event.. As a recent example the Nemidian Legion has their weekly patrol of Sanctum to deny access.

Using the Nemidian Legion example above we would attack them to break their patrol but I don't think we're ready for that level of combat.

Sounds good. Just fix the couple spelling errors.

I really like the letter idea. Most guild's little ads links say "So and so PvP / Light RP Guild" What a shocker! I'm not suggesting we throw this to the wayside completely, but an RPish version would be really fun, and would show our attention to detail. Heres an scenario of what might happen in chat one day...

A brief, in character description of Ars Tactika goes here. Emphasis on brief. Something you might find in a actual (lore relevant) flier advertising a military academy.

Clicking anany of the above names sends us a tell from the player with "I'd like more info on Ars Tactika" Meta-game info goes here, a blurb about TG, and stuff about our playstyle and maturity. The point is it seperate the OOC stuff from the IC stuff, so we can use a mix of both to lure in recruits.

    So what do you think?

So I heard some people say this is better than World of Warcraft...
Is this true, I meen World of Warcraft is soon going on to Wrath of lich king.
I've seen the graphics on Age of Conan and it is very impressive, but I don't got the game so I can't really judge it, so is it better than World of Warcraft?

As of now, categorically "no"... AoC is NOT better than WoW. Is it better than WoW when WoW 1st released? Somewhat, yes.

People have to remember WoW was a terribly flawed game for the greater part of the 1st year of its existence. I put the game down after the 1st 40 levels and never came back until TG was end-game raiding. We put up with WoW's flaws because it was a shiny new type of game back then. Now? We're not as tolerant.

Funcom has a ways to go before AoC lives up to its potential. Much of the game is flawed or not finished; no lie to you there (much like WoW at release). The big "?" is how long before they polish the game. Currently, they're bleeding playerbase because of this. The lack of polish can be made up for by good guilds (like ours), but only for so long.

They have the template and the tools in place to be an awesome game... it's just not fully realized yet. I've played games with similar aspirations that just never got over the hump. AoC I will say CAN get over this hump, as much of what they promised is IN the game - it's just not "turned on" so to speak.

I'd say the remainder of the summer season will make or break the game. I have confidence though; they're parlaying much of their boxed sales into improved cust. service, servers, and just more staff overall.

I never played wow and was never interested in playing. Wow for the most part looked like an animated cartoon. The graphics in AOC are nice, if you can run them. I really enjoy the graphics and environment.

Back on Topic, I like the idea. They sound unique among the same old boring guild pages.
