Just letting everyone interested know that I have 5 free trials (from my collector's edition) to give out.

My only requirements are these:
1) You SHOULD meet the recommended (not minimum) system requirements for the game, or at least come reasonably close. You CAN run the game on minimum specs (many people run it on old laptops) just fine, but you'd be missing out.
2) You must join the main TG guild "Ars Tactika." If later you think you'd prefer a different playstyle you're more than welcome to join one of the other guilds within TG.
3) You must obviously play where TG plays, which is on the Cimmeria-RP server.
4) You must be able to pay the $3 DL fee to Funcom, which requires a CC... and be prepared to purchase a retail box after 7 days if you like the game, along with the monthly fee standard for most MMOs.
5) You must be genuinely interested in playing the game long term (assuming you end up liking the game). Again, if you just wanna mess around a bit or think you cant hack the $15/month then this is not for you.
6) You must at the very least level a character through the beginning zone of Tortage (this can be done in a weekend).
7) You must have AND use Teamspeak.
8) You must have broadband.
9) You must be a teamplay oriented individual.
10) You must be a "Supporting Member" of TG or a member in good standing. Obviously those folks that just register with TG to grab a trial aint gonna get one (this happened a lot in Tabula Rasa). At least have some time under your belt here before you ask for free trials.

I have these requirements because I'm not going to waste my trials on people that have no real intention to play the game and/or support the guild. I also want to avoid people who's systems aren't quite enough to appreciate the game fully. We're a casual, yet tactical guild so where this may seem "hardcore" in reality it's not.

If I've never played an MMO before, would this be the one to try? I'm also a little weary about paying $15 a month. But this game does look pretty cool. And yes my system should run it fine, with a Q6600, 2GB ram, 8800GTX, plenty of hard drive space, on Vista 32.

I wasn't much of an MMORPG player either.. I'd dabble here and there.. nothing serious. I'm enjoying this one a lot more than other stuff right now though.

I wasn't much of an MMORPG player either.. I'd dabble here and there.. nothing serious. I'm enjoying this one a lot more than other stuff right now though.

Be aware though - there is a $3 fee to download the trial client.

I've got the same system except with an e6600 and you can run it maxed out. Some areas in AoC arent "optimized" yet, so they can tax your system but for the most part it's fine.

Everyone's weary of the $15/month, hence the "trial" aspect. But, there are those who before even trying the game cant or wont pay $15/month - but still want the trial. This is illogical.

As long as you're prepared to pay it, s'all good.

How do I just pay the $3 and download the client? When I go to register a name, it's forcing me to select a 1 month, 3 month, or 6 month recurring subscription. I don't want that, yet. I thought this was just a free 7 day trial.

Most MMOs are this way. If you want to do their free trial you still have to enter your CC info. and choose a payment plan. You're not billed anything, it's just required for many reasons to do so (age of player being the main one - it IS a Mature game btw). The free trial allows you to not have to buy the retail box or pay for 7 days of game time... beyond that, your subscription will kick in if you decide to purchase a box or purchase a retail key. If you dont buy the box/key obviously you wont be billed. (you need a retail key to start a subscription)

Regardless, there's 30 free days of gaming with a retail purchase... so you're still not billed for basically 40 days of gametime should you decide to play: 7 days for the trial, 3 days for the DL fee, and 30 for the retail purchase.

Not really. They're just specific to avoid wasteful use of them. Like I said I've been through this already and dont intend to go through it again. Hell, we've got "bots" on TG that ask for trials.

Also, it's safe to say that most people at TG easily meet these "conditions" so it's not as ridiculous as it sounds. It's just a matter of if they're truly interested in trying the game out or not.

hey i think those conditions are perfect. I was going to ask for a pass but after reading those i realized i would just be wasting a pass for someone else would actually use them. Something like this is usually standard when ever TG gives out passes. So kudos

Why would you be wasting a pass? I'd gladly give you one if you're interested. As long as your wife is okay with it.

because right now im involved heavily with EVE and i dont want to pay 15bucks a month to play an mmo. I can use ingame isk to purchase time with eve, so thats why i would be wasting a pass, i wouldn't go longer then the trail.
