re: Patch Notes: Patch 1.5 and 2.0 (incoming) + NEW Game Director!
I dont blame em. This patch makes or breaks the game for most PvP-oriented guilds. Most guilds are at a tipping point right now as it is. For us though, since we're just now trying to get our hands dirty with endgame PvE and expanding the playerbase, it's not so imperative. I'd say they have another month at least to fix the pvp-endgame where AT is concerned.
What I'm most wanting about are the numerous other fixes that go along with the pvp update, like the merc. and fugitive update, and the dozens of class tweaks.

re: Patch Notes: Patch 1.5 and 2.0 (incoming) + NEW Game Director!
Here's the update and I'll quote from "Tarib" the community manager:
"The servers will come down for THE update on 17th September at 04:00 GMT.
The downtime is scheduled to last about 7 hours."
So indeed... the much awaited PvP patch is here. Looks like they nipped those few niggling problems with the Barbarian and Ranger combos in the bud. There will be a few things missing though, namely the fugitive/murder system. They've said that'll be in place VERY quickly after this patch though.
Now, let's see how many people this attracts back to the game.

Details on the patch:
http://community.ageofconan.com/wsp/...&table=CONTENT
Also:
Update – 17th September -
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The main focus of this update has been the introduction of the PvP System Update which will bring new meaning and purpose to PvP as well as the first sets of PvP armor. In addition new quests are made available for higher level characters in Eiglophian Mountains and many changes and tweaks based on player feedback have been added for various different features.
PvP System Update
This update now activates the PVP leveling system. You can now gain PVP levels by engaging in your normal PVP activities, be it world PVP, siege encounters or defeating your foes in the PVP mini-games. There are ten PVP levels in total that you can work through to prove your worth on the battlefield. Your PVP stats are now also active in your character tab, keeping track of your performance in PVP.
In addition your new PVP armor ratings come into play now that the system is active. These provide additional mitigation of damage against damage that comes from other players. The new PVP armors will be the primary means of raising these ratings, although we will look to add additional means of raising these PVP defensive ratings in the future.
All of the PVP items introduced in this update reward players for levels one through five in the PVP progression system.
This update is just the start of the planned PVP updates. Next up will come the PVP consequence (or Notoriety) system and more PVP items added to the game in the form of the rewards for the PVP levels six through ten.
New Quests
Thirteen new quests have been introduced in the Eiglophian Mountains region with this update and they blend in to the already existing story around this level 50 – 60 playfield where one must possess incredible willpower, physical strength, and great courage to survive.
In addition, around 40 existing quests have been tweaked and changed. Some now even offer a slightly more interesting ending than before.
Class Changes
With this update we keep on adjusting and change spells, feats, combos etc. for all the twelve classes and four archetypes. The almost 80 changes for all classes overall also include adjustments to pet behavior and improvements to combat actions and moves. All these improvements also help further balancing the classes. And we will of course also keep on tweaking and improving various aspects of the classes in future updates.
Gem Changes
Many of the bonuses granted by gems have been adjusted so all Invulnerability, Evade, Fatality, Offhand Chance, and Damage bonuses have been reduced by a significant amount. We will be continuing to assess and adapt the gem system over future updates to try and ensure they provide the intended method character advancement and refinement that their original incarnation didn’t quite provide. This is an area that will continue to get focus over the coming weeks and months.
Also other tradeskill resources have been tweaked in terms of droprate and usability in different recipes.
The update also features many changes on other topics; mounts in massive PvP sieges, GUI and mail improvements to tradeposts, adjustments to NPC behavior and Tradeskills, just to mention some. For the full list of updates please check out this link.
We hope you enjoy the update.

re: Patch Notes: Patch 1.5 and 2.0 (incoming) + NEW Game Director!
I've been reading the official AoC forums and it seems everyone is pleased with the latest patch. One player was in game and said it was nuts with all the activity. Also, the game's producer Gaute left the company and they hired someone from Anarchy Online, the producer I believe of that game, forgot his name. Anyone familiar with AO? Did this guy make it a better game?

re: Patch Notes: Patch 1.5 and 2.0 (incoming) + NEW Game Director!
Yah his name is Craig Ferguson. I remember him coming to AO and basically shaking things up for the better... but, of course by that time Gaute had already ruined the game. If you peruse the AO community forums you'll see most people are really sad he's left.
Honestly, we're very fortunate to have this guy this early in AoC's development before things spiral out-of-control.
Also, those of you who were a part of AoC well before development (like FKD and myself) you may remember how AWESOME the AoC community forums were back then; good people and good community devs and a very well laid out site. Today's forums suck mammoth balls in comparison. Well, those old forums were Craig's forums.
And well before all of this Craig was basically the community manager for AO before he was GD for AO. Very player/guild-oriented. Similar guy to the new director for WoW. And we all know how WoW is going now.
This is a good thing.

Re: Patch Notes: Patch 1.5 and 2.0 (incoming) + NEW Game Director!
Good to read. Just learned that Gaute was with Funcom for 16 years. That's a long time with any company but more still with a video game one. I'm guessing behind the scenes there was some tension about the launch, content, fixes, etc. I'm just hoping the new director keeps within the lore of the Conan universe, setting and maturity. One of the draws for me to the game is the setting which is unique to the genre. WOW and Warhammer maybe getting the numbers but I believe this game has a more interesting world.
