Armor types and melee invul.
This is a note to all you folk who think running around in your flashy medium armor as opposed to full plate is fine and dandy if the stats pan out. I did some searching today and found out that the higher class your armor the more inherent Immunity you have to melee strikes.
So indeed, you NEED to focus on maximizing your best armor (i.e. plate for you guardians). Obviously though, if you've got a seriously nice piece of lower-tiered armor that's WAY better than what you've got... by all means wear it, but seeing as how +defense is so minor a difference in many cases... you simply cant use that as a yardstick. Only other stats like +dmg/regen are worthy to compare, and in tanking situations are less important.
moral of the story: wear thy Plate (cough cough) FKD

Re: Armor types and melee invul.
I'm equipping a number of armour pieces that are green, lower level and Heavy, but have higher stats then a blue, higher level and Full Plate. What am I missing here? What's most important, stats, level or armour rating?

Re: Armor types and melee invul.
Plate armor has an inherent "Immunity to melee" bonus over the lower lvl armors. It doesnt show up in your armor stats. (I'm not even sure it'll show up on your character sheet)
Maybe we should run some tests to see.
