Re: Have you Pre-Ordered?

Talked to GameStop today, the guys there didn't seem to know too much about it. They said that usually when special things go down with pre-orders, they either email you about it when it happens or call you in to pick up a special game card for it. Gave them my email address, we'll see what happens.

I'm wondering that myself. Paranoid about ordering it in store and not getting the early access. I'm gonna run by my local GameStop where I pre-ordered and see what's up.

Re: Have you Pre-Ordered?

Not yet but I do plan on preordering or purchasing the game when I can afford a new gaming rig.

I doubt my P4 3.0 ghz and X850 Pro can play the game at high settings -_-

Eh, three days of early access isn't worth the effort for me. Considering that when I pre-ordered I didn't know anything about free mounts or any of that jazz, it's not a big deal if I have to wait until the 20th to play. With the amount of dedication I can have for games like this (read: I have no life), I'm sure I'll be able to catch up and maybe even pass you guys if you get it a few days beforehand. :P

Besides, with the huge size the game has to be, who knows; maybe your downloads will just be finishing as I get the hard copy anyway.

Re: Have you Pre-Ordered?

I went into Gamestop today to pick up my copy of Grand Theft Auto 4 and to my suprise i also got my golden ticket . If you pre-ordered in store they will give you a big card with a gold scratch off. Under the scratch is a code to get your mount and Early Access. If you pre-ordered online, i sappose they will be emailing you the code.

FYI GTA4 is godly good.

I did the easy pre-order from Best Buy, where I get the code up front for 10$.

Oh reeeally? Did you just ask about your AoC pre-order, or did they see you were already in the system when you picked up GTA4? Did they say anything like they were going to call you later if they didn't see you today? I wonder if I hop into one of the Gamestops here they'll have something for me.

Re: Have you Pre-Ordered?

No golden ticket for me. Apparently my store says that they're terrible about getting pre-order bonuses out on time.

Hmmm...I checked with my pre-order Gamestop and they really did not have any information. I'll have to get in there and crack some skulls.

Re: Have you Pre-Ordered?

I think I might try to cancel my pre-order. I've managed to play all of 45 minutes in the closed beta side over the past 5 days.

Half of that is because it took me a while to figure out that the patcher it self is in conflict with my AV software and the reason why the download of patches is so slow is because it was blocked as malware.

The other half is because I'm stonewalled at the 'crashes when entering Tortage' bit of the game. Sure a fix is coming, but as a beta it has somewhat squashed my expectations for the game. I mean, if they can't stabalize the first 10 levels of the game where EVERYONE has to go through then how bad will the last 70 be?

Likely you will create a new account with your preorder code to play the preorder period and then when you get your box, you will have to add your retail code to your preorder account.

Looks like EB is charging an extra $5 to download the game to run the preorder period. The 'extra 10 days' is to allow time for the physical game to arrive, at which time you can enter your retail code for uninterrupted play.

I am curious if the Beta client will patch up to the preorder version - so I could skip the $5 fee from EB.

Hmmmm...maybe someone else can help you with the tech issues Tarneth but I haven't had any crashes upon entering Tortage. The game runs smooth with some slight slowdown in framerate but I think that has to do with my PC being alittle above the min. spec and me running the game on a higher setting than I can handle.

I was having an issue where I have to change the shaders upon getting to the load screen but the original problem of a complete blue screen was fixed by the patches. The movie intros now run smooth for me where originally they were stuttering.

I wouldn't let it sour you on the game.

Re: Have you Pre-Ordered?

I've been looking at the AoC forums and it seems to be a problem localized with the client used by the closed beta participants and those with Nvidia cards of the 7 and 8 variety.

I use a dual Geforce 7950 card set up and my computer is a bit over the minimum specs, but it still throws out errors left and right. No tech fix is posted on the funcom forums aside from the fact that its an issue that is being worked on.

Don't know if I'll ever give it a good run with all these issues in the game. Compared to Vanguard which had one of the most incomplete beta setups ever I'd have to say that Vanguard was weeks further along in development than AoC in working out compatibilities.

Hell, the game constantly fluxuates between driver crashes, BSOD, and hard crashes. It's just frustrating as a whole.
