Well, I walked into a different Gamestop today (have 2 in my town) and asked about the pre-order ticket. They handed me one without even asking for my ID.

I just noticed Target still has the CE edition for 89.99$.

Just got my pre-order card from GameStop! If you have not gotten your card yet make sure you drop by your pre-order location if that's the way you ordered and ask for the card.

I'm more interested in having the Mammoth mount than the early access. I'm going to wait until I have the CE box in hand to start playing.

I went to Gamestop yesterday and they insisted they knew nothing about the pre-order/early play option.. just the War Mammoth, which I didn't want (I like the Rhino). So I went to Best Buy (Who has the Rhino, and Rhino Belt) and they had them on the shelf.. PLUS.. the box had an Early play key.. go figgur.

They said the Preorder version I was buying (for $10) didn't apply to the CE version.. but other places it does.. so looking at the receipt (or the box).. there is no way to tell.. So I am going to just pick a CE version off the shelf and take the receipt and probably still get the $10 credit.. WITH a War Rhino, Rhino belt, and Drinking Cape (YES!).. and everything else.. OH.. and I'll be able to play on the 17th.

You know you don't get the mount right away right? I think you can't claim that until level 40 or something.

The $5 early-access card in reality has NOTHING to do with any kind of pre-order. Funcom made them 2 separate entities, which is why many people feel screwed over with gamestop.

The $5 gets you the mammoth, bag, and access on the 17th for 10 days while you wait for your retail box to arrive... of which you pay full price.

If you pre-order you can "con" them into giving you the card (like I did), but they're really 2 separate things. $5 for the card and $5 or $10 for the pre-order.

I pre-ordered the CE from Gamestop and they screwed it up somehow, but I got them to give me a card for free.. so in reality my $5 was money spent normally. I ended up having to order the CE from Buy.com (which should arrive on the 25th). W/o the $5 early access card I would've been stuck w/o access for quite a while.

This whole thing has been utterly confusing.

You're kinda throwing away money if you do that. The $5 you give pays for the early access and 10 days of playing time. Why do you want to wait for the CE to arrive? Might as well join in when the servers go up on the 17th. At best you'd get your CE on the 21st. The 25th for us folk that ordered it online (hence the reason they give us 10 days of access).

My main reason until waiting for the retail release is that I've got a new computer being built and I'd rather start playing with all the bells and whistles.

So, what happens if you pre-order online from say, bestbuy, do you get the keys in email or must you wait for the hardcopy to arrive?

When I pre-ordered from Gamestop, I just paid the price of the game itself (turned out to be like $54 with tax). Then I paid the $5 last night for the early access after walking into a random Gamestop and being handed a card when I asked about it. Seemed to work out okay for me.

The Best Buy store only charged me for the preorder with the Rhino.. $10.. and then the $5 for the early access from FunCom.

Side note: I want the Collectors Edition.. but they said the box I was buying didn't apply to the CE.. but I don't see how they will care the difference if I pick the CE up off the store shelf with my $10 preorder receipt.. we'll see.. I don't care if I don't get the CE.. although the drinking cape is perfect for me! "But ocifer, I wuth wearin' my drinkin' cape!"

Early access is now sold out. If you didn't register for it by now, you'll have to wait till release day to play. You still get whatever bonus item came with your preorder box.
