Active Blocking
I keep forgetting to use this feature when in combat. Anyone use this on a regular bases and in what circumstances?

Re: Active Blocking
When ur a dps-er and not a Tank and you've caught aggro... it's good to use active block while you're getting pounded on so the others in your group can get the Hate back. Also, it's good to use when timing an opponents combos - use active block just before he throws one, and then as soon as he's done throw your own. You could also use when closing range to a ranged opponent (ranger, caster, etc.) Active block, then move, active block, then move again.. etc. Until you get close enough to kill em.
If you're about to die but have a buttload of stamina left, active block to buy time for your friend to save ur butt or for a health pot (potion) or spell to take effect. I actually used this tactic today against 3 high lvl mobs and won. It's also useful waiting for an important spell to cooldown.

Re: Active Blocking
Active blocking isnt that great for tanking and if you got aggro, you should run.
Active blocking is mainly most useful for PvP at this level stage, you can active block whenever you see the enemy perform a combo attack, this can be seen bottom right corner above their health bars. Only hold block down for 1-3 seconds and your stamina will not be drained much, but you will take reduced damage, maybe even block/parry the attacks.
It could be used for tankers at end game raids, fighting big ass boses using same principle.
Also when you are in PvP, run around in circles to avoid combos.Last edited by Dr.Zelenka; 05-30-2008 at 03:24 PM.

Re: Active Blocking
Active blocking that the 'X' key default right? or is it moving the white/yellow around 'ctrl + #'? Also for 'X' key what classes can use this? Does it work on arrows?

Re: Active Blocking
I guess this is one of those things I kept wating for a funcom "fix" for. I'm a tank, and for me, active blocking is not worth the stamina it uses. I'd rather use the stam to hop sideways or back, increasing my dodge rating in a huge way.
I think Active Blocking is really tageted at a healing class or any clothy that carries a shield. I've raided with many fine healers that managed to survide the onslaught of adds by simply standing there, blocking w their shield, and waiting for me to pull the mobs away.
Anyhoo, just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Active Blocking
I can't tell you how many times i've downed poor souls trying to do this. They put themselves in terrible positions.
I can't justify active block either most of the time, the rest of time i forget about it. It's not huge but it can help if used in the right situation.
