Tactical view of our new home

I recommend everyone take a walk around the place where our new player city will be going up. Imagine the walls are up and you are the enemy... How will you be able to approach? Where would you regroup? Most likely place to put your siege engines? Ask yourself these questions and that will help you spot where we will be needing defense.

    WEST
For the most part the mountain walls give us a 180 degree arc of protection to the west and part north part south directions.

    SOUTH
To the south is a large field with boars (BOAR FIELD). From that direction I could only find two paths up the slope toward our city. One is a ramp like spot almost directly south of our keep, the other is a small path to the west. These two paths merge into a single point of weakness to our south (BOAR PASS). Otherwise most of the south approach is steep enough to prevent direct attack.

    NORTH
To the north of us is the entrances to the border lands and a small bowl with cows and such in it (NORTH BOWL). It would be hard to get into this area to our North without being spotted.

    EAST
Our east is a gradual slope down to a small stream (EAST SLOPE). There are a couple bridges crossing the stream (NORTH BRIDGE, SOUTH BRIDGE). I know the stream does not stop troops, but perhaps siege engines are moved into position and must come across the bridges, or they may just be built right up against us as in other games. The bridges may become choke points but I suspect not.

    FAR EAST
Farther out to the east of us are a couple places where scouts could remain hidden and see a large swath of the approaches to the city. We will have to name these areas for quick and clear communication. If we all know some named reference points on the map a scout could say: "10 troops moving west across north farm" and we all would know what he was referring to. That sure beats trying to say: "Some guys walking at coords 1067,568"

Anyone have some ideas or suggestions?

And that as they say, is that.

Have to build a battle keep if you want to engage in city defenses/siege battles. Only 8 are allowed per server and your city first has to be tier 3 to be allowed to build one.
    It's all in the Reflexes.

Guild cities (as soon as the Keep gets put up, which will be by Monday) CAN be attacked by anyone, including NPCs and PCs. The city can only be LOST to an NPC attack, however a PC skirmish group could make life pretty difficult if they wanted to. Once the Keep goes up, so do the NPC cities. dun dun DUN!

We're pretty much the 1st organized guild in the area. The rest of the folk are just small, casual guilds... so I dont see too much trouble brewing from THEM unless we start scrapping over resources. It's more likelly they'd merge with us if they see us doing very well and cant quite keep up themselves.

So far, since no one else is building but us... there are no opposing NPC cities. But, that of course will change.

Another thing that's interesting about our instance is the inherent level growth self-contained within. You can walk around a certain area and kill lvl 20+ prey, and then move to another area and be confronted by lvl 60+ (so be careful). NPCs will also spawn randomly on you and attack while crafting or even just walking - and they'll be level-dependent on you.

Right now, this city will be just more of a "hangout" and place of convenient resource gathering until the bugs get worked out. I dont believe we get a buff from the Keep yet, so building one is simply to initiate the city and move on to more strategic structures.

If you want to give "directions" to people to visit (those not in the guild):
    -Poitain
    -Instance 29
    -Western Village

Dont do this please. They're our neighbors. For now, be nice. There's plenty of resources for everyone in there and we'll of course at some point be gathering near their city. If we were locked into gathering only near our own land that'd be pretty monotonous. Not to mention, there's a bug now that PCs CAN bring down your Keep - so, not wise to piss them off.

Define "attack." Killing NPCs? Bringing down buildings? Attacking PCs?
