Important Note about name choice and being in the Legion
The only (in-game) requirement to being in the TG Legion is having an Role Play name. I am not saying you have to role play but no characters named Lordmeatwad are going to be added. Just pick a name that is seemly not out of place in the Aion world.

You know, I was actually thinking about this, and I dont see it as being a particularly good idea. One reason: recruiting.
Think about it, we're going to be recruiting people in-game. If someone named Captain ILoveShoes decides he wants to join and asks about it, are we going to say no because he didnt pick a name that agrees with being an rp-ish theme? We have no control over what people who might be future legion members are going to name themselves, and saying they cant join based on something they did that they didnt know was going to be a problem later on is very un-TG. I say as long as your name falls within TG parameters (obviously not being profane or offensive), it should be kosher.

I agree with Ferris on this. While we might prefer for people's name to fall under this guideline, I'd hate to miss out on a great potential legionmate who fits our style of play just because he/she chose a name that doesn't quite fit.

True enough. But if we do end up with a XxXLegolasXxX or Icutzjoo, I shall forever simply refer to them as "Bob"
Re: Important Note about name choice and being in the Legion
Im sorry Ferris but yes I have turned down people and will turn down people because of there name. I feel it does reflect upon the person, their goals in game, and how serious they take the game. I am sorry to disagree with you on this. If you feel strongly enough I am up for putting it to vote in a poll if not lets just stick with this rule while anyone is looking for recruits. One guy I rejected named LimitedToo actually had another character with an RP name who did join. I dont think this is a unfair or bias request and I do think it is a helpful rule.

I dont think we want someone with the name "xX_p$yK0-K1LL4_2649_Xx" in our leigon. At least early on, keep it with natural sounding names, and later on we'll get more lenient on our recruitment policy. If the name is on the borders of acceptance, we might just let them in, but again, names like "C0wB0yz_fAl\l_4-3v3R" just make the legion look bad and are definitely an eye sore.

I agree with Neo on this one and back him up 100%. I've never met a skilled player who named themselves something silly like XxSephirothxX. Not only does it make the Legion look desperate for players, but i've found that people who name themselves these things had no intention of taking the game seriously in the first place. It's usually these ppl who decided to play the game on a whim or were just jerking around. Maybe 1 out of every 10 of these people will realize that they actually enjoy the game and want to stay. it's only then that they regret the name choice. I think Quality should be our #1 priority.

Well said. Like Ferris said I wouldn't want to segregate either but at the same time I don't want to be seen in company with Luvs2spooge. Quality over quantity gets my vote.

Always the truth daivd, but how could we possibly discriminate against someone who DID choose the name LordMeatwad? I mean really, they would have to have impeccable taste to choose such a name.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:
