Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
The game isn't fininshed yet (it wont be for years), so there's still room for alchemy to expand. It just isn't a money maker at the momment above 399.
Also.
BIG TIP, SO PAY ATTENTION! :
WE'RE ELYOS.
DO NOT BE ASMODIAN.
DON'T SCREW THIS UP!!!

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
Ok after some reading I decided on Handicraft for the simple fact that is harder haha...that and Hat is going to take on armorcrafting. Not that there is nothing wrong with two members doing the same craft, I just do not want to feel bad for beating Hat every time we duel over who gets donated ingredients.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
I think he means when the game launches don't pick an asmodian for a character. Simple for all of us who have been playing the closed beta's already, but i think it's more for new members, or people thinking about joining us.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
REAL TIP: When you turn level 9 you will automatically recieve your Accention quest. DROP EVERYTHING I mean if you see the boss you came for is only a foot away LEAVE and go do the Accention quest. You can return to what you are doing after. The reason for this tip is when you turn lvl 9 and do the Accention quest you automatically lvl to 10 no matter how much XP over 9 you have. So any xp gained after lvl 9 is a waste until after your accention quest is over. Again you can return to Poeta and finish up any quests you still have later.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
free exp, a new class, and the all important wings. Thats enough for most people to drop what they're doing and ascend.
also, yes, the big tip is for the newbies that might look at this thread. With the notice on the front page, I think we might be getting more views.

Tip: If the name isn't dark gray, and it isn't armor, don't sell it.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
Tip: Don't be worried about being forgetful or broke when it comes to buying that new skill or spell. They will automatically level up if u have to buy them late. Also if you're not sure if u have all the skills and spells for your current level. Just open up your skills list.. go to chains and on the top of that page you can click on "skills" and it will show u every skill and spell u get to level 50, that way you don't miss any.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
Tip: when free falling after a long flight runs out, get fairly close to the ground and press space to deploy your wings and effectively slow the descent letting you live from an otherwise lethal fall.
If your flight was ling enough, the flight cool down should have recharged by then, and all you need is a pixel of flight time bar to deploy your emergency parachute.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
Has anyone mentioned cooking yet? If so I may have missed it due to the extreme bout of sobriety I'm experiencing. I've been looking over the craftable items and it looks rather interesting.
If nobody else has picked it up and we already have another interested in sewing, I could take up Cooking.
On a side note, who is getting ansy waiting for tomorrow?

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
TIP: When you target an enemy look at the portrait it gives you in the Top center of your screen. On the left side is a red sphere with 6 dots. If 2 dots are white its a regular mob. If 4 dots are white it will take 2 to 4 party members to fight it. All six dots will need a raid (alliance). <- Reiketsu has a better understanding of this but no one posts
TIP: Being in an Alliance (raid) breaks quests and quests will no longer count for the group.

Re: Aion: Tips and Tricks from Closed Beta
TIP: Before teaming, it is always great for each person to have *at least* one Reviving Stone (or whatever they're actually called). I tend to carry up to 5 at a time. It comes in awfully handy, -especially- if it's your Healer who needs the rez.

Re: Aion: Tips discussion
TIP: Macros! Learn to love them. I started using macros once I hit level 10 on my gladiator and boy did it make things easy. To create a macro, hit the macro key (U by default) to bring up the macro menu. Create a new one. To program things in, heres the basic commands you'll need:
/Delay
/Attack
Other than that, everything is drag and drop. So open up your skills menu. Macros work best with chains. I had two of them that I was using constantly with great success from 10 on. By the time the beta ended today and I was at 18, heres what the macros looked like:
MACRO NAME: Strike 1
/Skill Ferocious Strike II
/Delay I
/Skill Shouting II
/Delay 2
/Skill Weakening Severe Blow II
/Attack
What this did was get an initial chain attack off, get my magic shield up, whack the mob to lower his defense (while my shield absorbed 100% of the damage he was hitting me with) and then start whacking away. By the time the shield wears off, I generally have the mob to 1/2 health, have taken 0 damage, and then I trigger this:
MACRO NAME: Strike 2
/Skill Ferocious Strike II
/Delay 1
/Skill Robust Blow II
/Delay 1
/Skill Wrathful Strike I
/Delay 2
/Skill Seismic Wave I
/Attack
And what that does is a three level chain attack, plus my close range AOE (gotta be careful with that, it can get you in trouble if you use it in a crowded area). By 18, that combination was doing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1-1.2k damage per run.
So basically, I had the ability to enter a battle, press two buttons and be done with it. Certainly easier than trying to remember what skill I put where on my hotbar considering it changes every couple levels.
When OB comes, feel free to craft your own macros. The delay between chain skills needs to be 1. The delay between non-chain skills needs to be 2. To get skills into the macro, drag and drop the icon into the edit box and it will automatically populate with the right command. The edit box also allows you to use regular text commands (cut, copy, paste) but you have to use keyboard shortcuts for them (ctrl+x, ctrl+c, ctrl+v respectively).
