    Open Beta Official--Sept 6-13

    Per Official web site:

Aion's Open Beta, Pre-Select and Headstart Programs
    August 27, 2009 8:56 AM

Within the next four weeks, we will treat European and North American gamers to two opportunities to jump into the world of Aion and explore Atreia as Asmodian or Elyos characters ahead of its release in Europe on 25nd September and North America 22th September. Aion's Open Beta Test featuring version 1.5 will take place 6-13th September and will include numerous Western enhancements, including improvements to Aion's innovative character customization with a host of Western styles, as well as new zones, instances, skills, quests and continued game balancing and improvements. Open Beta will retain a level cap for both Elyos and Asmodians characters at 30 allowing players to focus on getting to the same level so they can explore the lands of Atreia together, as well as the Abyss.

Players who have pre-ordered Aion will be treated to a Pre-Select and a two-day Headstart period giving them the opportunity to explore, organize and progress through the game prior to the official launch. Pre-Select will take place on 18th September, while Aion's Headstart will begin 20th September. Players can still participate in the Aion's Pre-Select and Headstart programs by pre-ordering the game through several participating online and brick-and-mortar retailers.

Any idea on if anyone can partake in OB, or just those who have preordered? I saw no reference in the PR.

I'm not sure, there is a LOT of chatter on the boards about it right now. Here is a post from Ayase on the subject:

"Let me put an end to this topic.

Amboss was quoted out of context. He was asked whether or not preorder buyers would be able to participate. And yes - they will be.

They are however not the only ones. We'll go out with more details soon (open beta announcement this week! whoop!), but you're basically in the clear as long as you have preordered the game, participated in any of our prior betas or if you manage to get your paws on a new key that may or may not be given away for open beta."

Kinda vauge. All I get from it is that if you preordered or had one of the Fileplanet beta keys that was only good for one weekend, then your good to go.

Preorder, or an existing beta key is probably going to be needed to play. I was in the IRC channel yesterday and ayase was answering questions in between telling people that OB wasnt announced yet. This was one of them. He said they generated a certain number of beta keys for the game and gave almost all of them away during CB. He said that they may or may not find outlets for giving the rest out. So you can hope for it, but I wouldnt hold my breath if you dont already have a beta or preorder key.

    Re: Open Beta Official--Sept 6-13

I just got an email from NCSoft Support today that kindof threw me:

Thank you for creating your presales game account! Once you are approved for
beta testing, or you activate the game with the serial code from your final
product, you will be able to log in.
Is this a generic msg that I can ignore, or would I now have to wait till the 20th of Sept. to get my "final product" and play the game?

    ..anyone know?

I was talking about this with Epylon earlier. When you pre-ordered and created the aiononline.com account you entered the serial already. Since the OB is v1.5 make sure to download it even if you're not going to play (why you wouldn't idfk). That way you won't waste precious time once the early access starts.

I'm thinking that the email is just poorly worded. All pre-orders were locked in for CB & OB so don't worry about it. Now if you were using CB keys from another source then you might be screwed for the OB since it's not as open as open sounds lol.

    Just found this on AionSource:

I just got word that this mail was sent out erroneously. We are working on getting infrastructure set up for open beta, and you may ignore this mail.
