    So impressions?

I have been a long time LOTRO fan/player and before that, Guild Wars and WoW. I have left all of that as I only have time for one MMO at a time so I chose thanks to Vulcans advice to try AION. So far I think the game is great, the mechanics and the playing, granted some of the quests are a little bland for the most part but there is something that just draws me back even more. the game world is so pretty along with the character customization and assencion is pretty cool. All in all I just wanted some of your thoughts on the game itself so far.

Aion is a game where I can literally have the feel of being in a "world", and not just in a game.

Technical issues aside, this game give a lot of substance, in my opinion; yet one big downside is the heavy, heavy lean on PvP that iminently slams into you once you've finally got the hang of things. It brings you to the mindset of "Those blasted Elyosians/Asmodians, I'm gonna get'em!!", when before you were on the realm of "Aw, this game is *awesome*, I'm really enjoying my char!"

But I've only gone to the early lvl 20s so far - we'll see how it pans out later on down the road.

    Re: So impressions?

After doing the Krall quests last night, I have a couple of thoughts. First, agree totally with thw beauty of the game and immersive environment. Far better than other MMO's. I like the crafting, the queues seem to have settled and are much better, and the mechanics seem good. Have no idea about macros, and although I haven't been hampered yet, the lack of customization of UI is a bit of a downer. I loved Fetish UI in EQ2 for brokering.
Although I haven't gone to PVP land, I was thinking this morning that this is going to be a pure pvp, not really pvpve type of game. By that I mean I don't see anyone that is not in a legion getting to 50 and remaining viable. However, I am just guessing on that, based upon random thoughts about gear and stuff gained from grouping. I don't see a solo player doing PUGs and really being ok. Makes the idea of legions critical. Anyway, would be interested in what those who have played with the abys and pvp areas have experienced.
One last note. In the observatory areas saw what appeared to be two farmers, names like sdfsfe or asdfasdw just grinding, thought they might be bots or something. I am really a bit concerned about bot farming. Anyone know how big a problem this is going to be?

If you go into the Help & Support menu there is a drop down box at the top. Select "Report inappropriate behavior" and you can file a petition. I filed a petition on the first official day against a whisper spammer. I later received a reply from a GM telling me that they were banned.

Obviously the spammers are still around but yes please report the botters. No legitimate player is going to pick Rfstsrf as their name. GM's in FFXI never gave you a disposition from their investigation so I tip my hat to the ppl at NCsoft.

Meh, I'm miffed at NCSoft, really. I petitioned a few bots only to have the petition denied because it was outside support hours. Then there's the whole issue of chat. Keep this in mind. NA gold farming really started in 2003 to 2005. This is the third launch of Aion (Korea, China, NA/EU) in about 6 months. Why, then, with a problem known 4-6 years ago and in a game 6 months old can I not click on a name in chat to report and ignore them? I can whisper to them. I can invite them to my group or alliance. So clearly actions are possible. But blocking (which is in the game) and report (ditto) I can't do. That is unacceptable in a mature modern MMO.

That's for botting and once I learned about it I have used it quite liberally.
