Discussion: America's Army / America's Army - General Discussion - Newest Patch Enough to Revive Interest? - I recently noticed that they had released version 2.8.2 and re-downloaded the game. Anyone else
That was my hangup on this game. Teamwork for the most part is not required. The maps are small and played enough that the best positions are known. Being part of a clan or team was less about cooperation and more about being taught the fine points of each map. It's just a race to those defined areas. I just don't think the game in dynamic enough to compete with other titles out. You have larger scale and more realistic in ArmA and you get more teamwork in BF2: Project Reality.
I just DL'd 2.8.2, I have never played before. Maybe people don't take it serious due to the fact that its free. I never knew it was a MMOG until I saw it in TS2.
it was a great game until they added vehicles, we could fill our TG server every friday night. Plenty of teamwork and fun. I was burned out of it by the time they added the vehicles so its okay i dont play anymore. That patch made things weird and unstable. I really dont see us getting back into it, although it was a great game.
Not sure... how stable is the game now? After that one big update where they added the AI missions, my game would crash so often, others aswell, just became unplayable. Damn shame too because I really enjoyed AA before that

Well for me, after a week testing it out, everything except my sound works fantastic. I think I blew out my headphones, and when things speak its like separated.
Check out insurgency fellas, I think you'll find it a nice alternative to what you once played in AA!
i played the beta and wasnt a big fan of it, it had a really rough feel to me. like when they first released AA with the vehicles and AI. 2.8.2 is a lot smoother and a lot better in my opinion. im in a laid back realism clan and we compete in TWL, i dont see any other point in playing the game until 3.0 comes out sometime in mid to late 2008.
I am considering redownloading it just to give it a try, I have not played AA for 2 or 3 years myself and want to see what the deal is with the "vehicles". Probably need a crapload of training for the "vehicles" now?
What always killed this game for me was it was always good after a patch, then the hackers soon hacked it and ran around on servers like locusts.
Funny thing is, you'd think the military would not want their game to be hacked, for obvious reasons.. Hope out milsystems aren't protected by punkbuster =P
Eight months later I finally received the reports from three peer-reviews on my latest manuscript with the University of Toronto Press. This will be my third book with the same press and the second...

Rage makes a great case for using the VR as a place for training as a sniper. Virtual training rooms for training in virtual warfare.
This post is a great TG read:

Bravo Microsoft, you have now surpassed EA in poor decisions and once and for all seized the crown for the worst 'Reveal' ever. That EA were standing there on the stage with you when you did it was...
