    New to AA

Heard a lot about this bit of digital propaganda, so I thought I'd try it out. I've got my wings, expert marksman, Javelin, and Humvee badges already, so I just want to get some pointers before I head out into the real-ish world. Any and all are welcome.

    Re: New to AA

The only thing I can tell you is good luck finding a server that runs anything other than Hospital, Weapons Cache, or Bridge maps. There is some really excellent maps for AA, but everyone has to dumb it down and play the maps that cater to the worst forms of gameplay. Once upon a time there was a very nice, dedicated following of AA here at TG. I and a few other guys from =GsTA= would come to the TG AA server a lot and have a great time but now it's hard to find decent players to work with in AA.

You may want to try ArmA. It has a lot of the feel of AA, but on a much larger scale. It's definitely a simulation game as opposed to the more arcade BF2 games, but has a huge map to do missions on. Just be sure to get the 1.11 beta patch if you try ArmA, it's about the only thing that gets rid of the majority of the bugs, and makes the in game comms work.

I'll try that, but how much is it and how big is the community?

    Re: New to AA

It's around $30 if you download it from Atari, Steam or Direct2Drive. Should be about the same in stores, but be aware that for play on TG's ArmA server, you only need the basic game, not the expansion. The single player game is pretty much crap anyway, so there's not much point in expansions.

The ArmA community is probably larger than AA, but not as large as the BF2/PR mod community. It's definitely getting a boost of new players since the 1.11 beta patch came out, however. Check out the ArmA forum here at TG for more info.

No, you can buy and download it through Steam, but you can also get it other places and it has nothing to do with Steam. If it had anything to do with that piece of spyware crap, I wouldn't play it, lol.

    Re: New to AA

Well, I had played AA a few years back, from like 1.2 on up to 2.4 or something like that. Been so long I really forgot the last update I had played. I had played till I got 39 or 40 Honor and that was it. It was 40 Honor, just checked it, surprised my account is still available. Claims I have been a member since 2000 but on their "About" they claim the game was released July 2002 and the last time I played was about Oct. 2005(not positive about that though).
Anyway, I have been thinking about getting back into it just never downloaded it again. Some other newer game always attracts my attention and I forget about AA for about another 6 months. I tried ArmA back when the demo was first released but that was on my old computer and it just barely could run it, I now have a new computer I built and decided to try the demo out and downloading it right now.
I been playing a lot of Battlefield Bad Company lately on the PS3 but that has been making me want to install all my BF2 games again and then download Project Reality. I haven't played any of those for about 9 months or longer. Would be like a whole new game for me again. BF:Bc on the Ps3 makes me so mad anyway with the lack of communication(which is mainly EA's fault cause mics don't work on the PS3 version) and no commander.
Played the heck out of CoD4 as well but that just has the arcade style feel to it, no teamwork on hardly any of the servers I have been to and then on some so many rules it just has no fun in it just to try to get teamwork in the game. CoD4 just really is not the game to have teamwork, it is meant to have the arcade shooter feel to it.

Go through all the training exercises thoroughly, And try to go for the advanced/further part of that particular exercise.
The Shoot house exercise is, I think a really good familiarization of what might occur on the field. I spent hours trying to get a good time :P

And while in game, Really try not to teamkill because it adds to your.. I forgot what it's called but it's kinda like your global score.

Try not to die either, As I can remember it's a non respawning game.

It's a good free Sim game but I pretty much stoped playing AA when the population for radio tower died off and the only hard training in AA I have to say is the SF E&E mission but the crows trainning is a joke.... Oh yeah my highest rank was 78 I think
