Have you tried bypassing Steam and download the deploy client directly from the AA3 website?

just find it in the steam store page. You may want to reinstall steam as it seems it lost it's mime type config.

There will be a very large steam established base playing this game for those of you who haven't gotten steam, i highly recommend you do!

seems like I have a problem too..

I started pre-loading it on steam about 3 hours ago. I got it to 82% then I left to get a bite to eat. When I come back 10 minutes later it says it's pre-loading and at 50.1% and moving very slow. I've gotten to 52.6% after an hour of waiting. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm new to steam and a big noob in general with this stuff.

You could be done with the pre-load and are now downloading the fairly large update for the game after it went live. The first 50% of the download goes by rather fast but the final 50% seems to be taking forever.

thanks for the reply. You may be right man. would it still say pre-loading though? And after it's done 'pre-loading' does it automatically start the next download? Because I wasn't home when the first preload finished - wouldn't I have to authorize the next download to take place?

Generally, steam updates automatically by default. That's an option in the preferences of the steam client, and/or preferences of each game.

I would have to say that your loading was a bit 'glitched'... Preloading is regularly done on steam, but it seems like your preload finished and then it just 'lapsed' the change of process name... It's definitely downloading the update, but it just says that it's pre-loading.

I just began downloading it now, but before I had restarted steam with the new update it told me that the preloading server was unable to handle any more preloads, then when I restarted it began downloading normally (non-preload)

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it's downloading the update and I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

From what I've been reading today the pre-load Steam version may have been the beta version of the game that became available on File Planet, while the massive update was the final version released today.

ahh those cheeky bastards!!! making us download double the content..... doesn't seem to smart to take up twice the amount of bandwidth when if you would have done it right the first time it wouldn't have been such a big deal too booos for the FUBAR opening day release
