    Freezing/Authentication fix

This might help and I'm going to try it when I get home later but I wanted to share anyway for those of you who have had problems with the game freezing when trying to join the game.

    Ok first off.

    Go to C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Americas Army 3

And delete both the Binaries and Engine folders.

Go into steam and right click on AA3 and go Properties > Local Files and click 'Verify the Game Cache'

It will now redownload these files.

When it is done, launch, log into your account, then soldier. Then join a server! IT WORKS, DOES NOT FREEZE.

    More:

Like many of you, my game froze whenever trying to enter trainings or multiplayer servers. This will also let you Ctrl+Alt+Dlt and terminate game when freeze.

    (musts)
In VIDEO menu change DISPLAY MODE to WINDOWED

In AUDIO menu change SOUND DEVICE to Generic Software or Optimal

EDIT: Try what Anders posted below this is a better way to approach this problem

If this still doesn't help then try a complete AA3 delete and reinstall.

By going to the AA3 download and not using STEAM.

Didn't fix my freezing but that was expected. Pretty much everyone is having the issue of freezing when trying to join another server. The previous thread posted has the fix for that.

    Re: Freezing/Authentication fix

I found something on the AA3 forum that seems to work pretty good.
Basicly the same as you are doing in an easier way... I think.

Make at bat file in this folder named (deltemps.bat)
    ...\Steam\steamapps\common\america's army 3\Binaries

    Input the following:

    del *.0
    del *.1
    del *.2
    del *.3
    del *.fmap
    del aa3_edata.client.fmap
    AA3Game.exe

And make a shortcut for it on your desktop.
When you click it, it deletes the files and opens the game.

    Re: Freezing/Authentication fix

I run the game independently no STEAM.

I did have the beta and it did update my AA3 deployer program.

Thats why I mentioned that there are no STEAM folders involved with any of my game files.

Also if your really needing people to know your playing AA3 (not thru STEAM) just associate the game/ create a game shortcut while logged into STEAM. That way everyone will still track you playing whos on the TG friends list in STEAM.

    Thoughts?

After having 2 bad experience with games running under STEAM I decided to not get burned a 3rd time.

Didn't see that other post Vulcan so thanks for pointing that one out to me.

Haz I should have done that too.... I remember having these issues with Steam before.

    Re: Freezing/Authentication fix

the only cause i can think of is the in game chat function which you can disable. That doesn't help this freezing issue nor does running the game independently of steam. I do both and you can download the game from steam and go to it's folder and launch the aa3game.exe and it runs on it's own. It's the same exact files.

Regardless though the game freezes no matter what but it's only been happening while trying to join online servers for most people.

    Re: Freezing/Authentication fix

Its already been confirmed that the freezing issue (which removing the temp files can help), occurs both on the direct client and the steam client.

This is a bit off topic, but try the AA2. There are no problems, and 2.8.5 does have some nice features.
