How does AA compare?
I read the TG frontpage article about AmericasArmy and the game sounded interesting. I haven't even started to download it yet. What I wanted to find out is how does the game compare to the likes of Battlefield 1942 / Desert Combat? ... how does it compare to Counter Strike Source?
What makes the game worth playing compared to those games?

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: How does AA compare?
I'll revise the review to answer this question. Check game reviews in a day or so.

Re: How does AA compare?
It's far more realistic than CS or BF1942. The maps are relatively small, similar to CS maps, but the game mechanics follow a more real-world feel. A lot of the people here have AA installed, maybe we should set up an AA night again and get some more people involved.

I will try to download it this week and jump on a bit this weekend to check it out. Not sure I'll be making any AA nights since I can't seem to get on BF nights or play bits of CSS.

Re: How does AA compare?
If you've never played it before you should be aware that it will take about half a hour to a hour of taking various tests, ie.. rifle range- obs course- maybe a few others as needed, before you can get online. All are pretty simple if you've played FPS before.
Game is more fun with several players you know on at once. If you venture into the wilds of public servers have a lot of patience. Get used to being a target and not being able to hit what you shoot at for awhile also. BUT, the worm will turn if you give it enough time.

I'll try to spend some time on the AA server as well. It's far more to my tastes than BF.

Re: How does AA compare?
I'd like hear your comparisons. I've never played BF1942, and I can't get BF2 to load without crashing yet, but I've liked AA alot and was hoping that BF2 would be similar but on larger maps with less run-n-gun. What are your thoughts?
