Thanks for showing me the ropes
Thanks to Turbo & Sloppy Joe, among other TG AA regulars, for being patient with me and showing me the ropes tonight. Man, I just felt so lost out there sometimes. Nothing like BF2, I tell ya. It seems that if you're aggressive in AA, like I am in BF2, boom, you're dead. I'll just have to slow down a little more and un-learn my aggressive BF2 tendencies for AA. Anyway, great games, and hope to play again soon.

Re: Thanks for showing me the ropes
Yeah, double what he said!
AA has been a nice break from BF2, but holy cow I suck at it. I'd say that at least 90% of the time, I have no idea where I was shot from. And if I do see someone, they're guaranteed to get off 3 shots before I get one off!
Oh, well... it's still fun.

Re: Thanks for showing me the ropes
takes practice... the more you play the more of the map you learn, the better your shooting gets, and the better the gameplay gets...
Just remember, no one should EVER die alone... if your not working as part of a team over teamspeak (which hopefully on TG you are) at the bare minimum, when you spawn in and see someone going off on there own, follow and support them... usually they will run into contact then you can assist in the engagement, or maybe even flank who's he's engaging if it's a long drawn out battle...
If your partner goes down in front of you with just a single shot or burst, for god sake, don't go out there also... it's an ambush or a sniper, disengage that area and flank it, come from a different location.
Remember humans are predictable, if they think they got a good location, or there getting alot of kills going in a certain area, or you keep getting yourself shot in the same area, either come a different way and ambush the ambusher, or at least change your pattern or direction often.
One thing I like to do when on defense is to start the round close to an objective, so the assaulter's come in close before the engagement, next time they thing I'm in the same area, but then I move further away from the objective, closer to there direction, if there guard is down because they think your closer to the objective, you got a good surprise, but then mix it up, don't you become predictable.
I also like my team to have further out engagements, where they can go out, get some kill time, report on the directions of enemies, then after a few minutes of contact, call everyone back to a last line of defense protecting the objective.
Remember your role both with your weapon and as a leader or follower, also remember the mission...
and good luck.Magnum

Re: Thanks for showing me the ropes
Nice Post Gunrack...these guys have been helping me out too...I've also had a hard tranisition to AA...much harder than BF2 eh?
**HIJACK** I miss the TG AA sessions. I picked up COD2 a couple of weeks back and have been putting most of my gaming time into that. I found a tactically based server that B ( I think) recommended (82ndab) so I've been having some fun there too. Any gaming time away from COD2 has been on BF2 and I miss playing AA...ahhh...too many games too little time...
Anyhow I'll be back soon|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: Thanks for showing me the ropes
Gunrack, keep playing and follow these guys around. You will be happy that you have tried AA later on. It is what I have been looking for a game that is as realistic as it gets. New guys I have been there about a month ago. First it is hard. But once you see some cool stuff you will be hooked.
Hijack: try 6th floor for CoD2. It is the best out there. 82ndAB guys can be *******s sometimes.

Fun, fun and more fun. But do not be selfish. Provide some fun and you will receive some fun.

Re: Thanks for showing me the ropes
Like everyone said patience and practice is key to this game. Just get in their and play. Its still a learning experience for me, but once you catch on you will be hooked. I love this game because you can use real life tactics and they work like they should.

Re: Thanks for showing me the ropes
Thanks for all the feedback and tips, guys. Glad I'm not the only one who's had trouble in the beginning. I'll probably still continue to play BF2, but AA is definitely a nice, yet very challenging, change of pace to BF2. Maybe challenging isn't the word. More like, "deer in the headlights", especially against Dark Viper's rpg and Sloppy Joe's m203.
Always good games on TG, no matter which game it is.
