fps, shadows, hidden resolutions
Looking to pick up a few more FPS ?
Like shadows but not the rest of the projections ?
1. 16bit color settings are still available, they just aren't listed in the graphics settings menu.
Using the command console you can change from 32bit color to 16bit. Here is an example
of the command. setres 800x600x16.
640x480 resolution is also still functional, and is also not listed in the menu. Use the same
command provided above. By lowering the rez and color settings you can look to pick up at
least 10 fps. A word of warning.....some servers may kick for using 16bit color settings. Seems
kinda odd to me why they would kick for this, as it is still a perfectly legitimate setting.
2. If your like me, I don't need to see black scorch marks and cracks in walls. The only thing I'm
interested in is finding and shooting the OPFOR. Shadows can be a useful tool for spotting
enemies that may be concealed by objects or walls. Before entering a server, turn your
shadow setting to "full" and turn off projectors. After entering the server and selecting a
weapon class go back into the settings menu and re-enable projectors. Walla, shadows with
none of the other projections muddling up the screen.
Many servers now run with shadows disabled entirely, which in my opinion is a good thing.
Seeing as they have never fixed the bug that allows you to see them through certain objects.
If you find yourself in one of these servers, disabling the shadows and projectors in your
game settings menu will also help you pick up a few more fps.
I don't personally run shadows or projections at all because I have an old machine and can't
afford to have the "bells & whistles" on full effect.
Good gaming all. C ya in my scope.

Re: fps, shadows, hidden resolutions
I dont see how you can play on a 56k connection. Do you get a bunch of lag?

Re: fps, shadows, hidden resolutions
If I have a solid 28.8 connection and my ping remains consistent under 200, I can scrap with the best of em. If I had an up-to-date machine and a high-speed cable connection.....well it would be scary, in a sorta "this guy must be hacking" kinda way. I manage to maintain a +1 FR, and this account has been tracked since I started playing. All newbie mistakes included. I picked up a lot of ROE using the RPG early in my carreer. Mainly because that weapon suites my connection best. The lag is not as much a factor with a radius effect. I play to the best of my technological abilities, and try to have fun.
