Re: Tournament Information
Match Format:
The following is the format that will be used for matches for the duration of the tournament: Timing: 20 minutes before your match starts will be show time. At this time Admins will start to kick players not involved with the match 10 minutes before the round starts: Server will be locked. The password will be 'm4tch'. Anyone using this password for gaining access to a match they are not supposed to be playing in will be summarily banned for (at least) 1 hour. Yes this may interfere with YOUR match. But then again, you interfered with someone elses. Do no try and join. You may kick a non-sm on a team and ruin their match. Matches will start precisely on time. If, at this time, you do not have all your players...this is NOT my fault, or the other teams fault. If you are down 2 or more players (you are 4 playing vs 6) you will be given 5 minutes. And then the match will start. You will continue to play and your players may join when they become available. At the prescribed time, I or another referee will configure the server for match, and put out a 'LIVE PLAY' message. Even if every round is played for 8 minutes and we start 20 minutes late, We will still finish in time for the next team to join the server for their match. HOWEVER, if for some reason things are delayed, if you are playing in the SECOND MATCH. Do not join until the referee has changed his name to 'NEXT TEAM JOIN' This will indicate that the current match is over and that the server is being prepared for the next one. Players/Contact: You will have 6 players on the server and if you need your 7th or another sub, you may contact them via steam friends or another instant messaging program. NO THIRD PARTY VOIP ALLOWED. Do not make a vent server for your team. You do not need it. You may sub in and out as needed. However, if you wind up with a dead teammate for a round, this is not anyones fault other than your own. I would recommend switch out time be when the teams switch sides. HOWEVER, if you do need to sub in during live play, please make sure the 1 teammate EXITS before the next teammate ENTERS to avoid any possible kicking. Other Substitutes: I realize that this is a long tournament and many people have obligations. For that reason, we are allowing anyone active in the PCS community to substitute for any team. As long as they are not already on a team. You should know you are going to be missing players and should act accordingly. This pool of players will be for everyones use. For instance: gogeta is not playing in the tourny. He may play on Sparhawkxx team one match, and then switch over to Helspen's team for another match. You may ask anyone else to sub for you provided 1) Your players are not available and 2) they(the subs) are not on another team. Match Play: The referee may flip a coin to decide who plays on what team first if the two captains cannot figure it out between them. (really, you both get the same chance...so I really don't see this being an issue.) All players must adhere to the SOPs. Of course. Any player seen breaking the SOPs will be dealt with. Depending on the infraction and the outcome of the violation, the referee will decide how to handle it. You are playing in a tournament, folks. Review the SOPs. Follow them. Scoring: The referee is ultimately responsible for keeping track of the scores. However, to ensure each teams' score is recorded as accurately as possible, I would recommend that the captains keep a running tally, and confirm frequently with the ref as to the scores. Hostages rescued before the end of the round will only count if steam has recognized them as captured (i.e. the player receives a frag points). Bombs exploded will only count if the explosion happens before the end of the round. If for any reason the referee gets disconnected, please continue to play. I believe we are all adult enough to continue fair play even if no one is watching. The score will have to be 100% agreed upon by the captains, though. If there is any disagreement, the Admin team will settle it. Team Practice: I will create a thread for team practice. Captains can reserve times for practice in the future. Please only make your reservations for 2 weeks in the future. Those captains without admin capabilities(or an admin on their team) will have to meet an admin on the server. I will try and accomplish this, however I cannot promise to be there all the time. I would like all the admins help with this. Thank you. In brief: Be 20 minutes early to your match. Don't join unless you should. You may have substitutes. No third party voice chat software. Follow the SOPs. Make sure the REF is calculating correctly. Good Luck. If I have missed anything. And I am SURE that I have, please indicate so in the thread in general discussion and additional comments will be made. Thank you. |

Clarification on scoring and ranking.
Rankings:
Contrary to what I had orginally wanted/posted we will NOT be doing cumulative scores for ranking. This is unfair for multiple reasons. Most among them is the fact that we cannot punish other teams for 1 teams failing in a match up. So ranking will be done by a win/loss basis. Right now we have 4 teams that are 1/0 and 4 teams that are 0/1. However, cumulative scores will be kept track of for fun/any even of a tie breaker. Scoring: To reinterate. Rescued hostages are worth 1 pt Killed hostages are worth -1 pt Winning a round is worth 3 points. I had the old system in mind when I errantly told scores the previous night. I think I have cleared it up with everyone. It doesn't change anyone winning or losing. Any questions can be directed to the information discussion. |

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Tournament Information
There will be an immediate change to the scoring system for bomb maps:
If the bomb is planted and all CTs are eliminated:this will count as an explosion. As there are no CTs to prevent it, the bomb will explode anyay. This will fix some of the inadequacies in the system as right now there is no real pay off for terrorists to attempt to plant. And also, the current system highly favor's the CT side. These changes will affect future bomb maps only. Not past ones. Thank you for everyone's help in perfecting our tournament system. Everything we do now will make future tournaments MUCH easier.
