pc or 360
Hey question here. First off I am mainly a PC gamer (85% of my gaming is on my PC), but my system is getting a bit old and I am waiting for the X48 motherboards before I build a new system. They will probably be out around Jan.
I am very interested in checking out COD4, the demo ran so-so on my PC at 1280x960 2xAA4xAF, but I would have to pull back on that a good bit to keep my FPS above 30. (My GC is good, 8800GTX, but my processor is older AMD 4000+) So, that leads me to the 360, I generally don't play FPS on my 360, but in this case I don't know. Should I try it on 360? I am looking for advice. I a million times like M/K control better but I can deal with the controller if I have to. There are ton of good FPS games I want to play, but waiting for the tech for the new PC is getting to be a pain. ![]() Thanks for the help! ![]() |

Re: pc or 360
IMO... the SP and the future of CoD4 is for the PC...
The MP on the other hand is where the 360 shines... but with your system, I'd say 360.... but the 360 is harder then the PC version, control wise. |

Re: pc or 360
I agree with that.. the controls on the 360 are more difficult, but could be that I'm just more used to PC-style FPS control from BF2, 2142.
My son has it for 360, I've got it for PC, and I much prefer the PC from what I've played so far. |

Re: pc or 360
I got it last night for the 360 because of my outdated system. I turned auto aim off, inverted controls, and set Regular difficulty. So far it's a good time, controls are harder for me then M/K, but I am having fun in the single player game. I will probably buy it for the PC when I get my new system in Jan.
I must say, to be honest it's not too bad on the 360 with the controller, I lowered my expectations for the 360 version but I've been pleasantly surprised so far at the experience. |

Re: pc or 360
Another thought on this, after watching my son play COD4 on his 360. Between PC and 360, the graphics are very much on par with one another. I play on a 1600x1050 laptop LCD primarily, running at 1280x700 or something like that, and detail is wonderful, everything very crisp. My son plays his 360 on a regular 19" TV, and graphics are still quite good.
What I notice in watching on the PC vs 360 the most if "feel" of the game. The realistic jiggling of your view when you run on the PC.. doesn't seem to be as pronounced on the 360. As you run around or jump over things on the 360, it has an unnaturally smooth feel to your movement, very similar to playing Halo 3. The difference is big enough for me to prefer the PC version; aside from actually getting time on *my* PC, other than waiting my turn on the 360. If you're used to both platforms, you can't go "wrong" either way. This is my first COD game, and I'm very impressed. Our servers being empty 90% of the time I hit them sucks. .but hopefully that will improve in the next few weeks. |

Re: pc or 360
Been playing on 360, and having a good time. I use the inverted control scheme which works best for me I have discovered. Until I get my new system, in Jan I hope, waiting on the X48 MB's and new CPUs, I will stick with the 360 version.
When I get my new system I will always favor the M/KB, better graphics, etc... on my PC. ![]() |

Re: pc or 360
Yeppers, from here. I got the bad disc read error last night, so sorry about the quick exit. Then it was off to dinner out with the wife.
I'll be on over the weekend, I need the practice for sure. I'm still somewhat of a newbie with FPS controller, I'm learning but definitely got a ways to go! ![]() |

Re: pc or 360
played just a little on my 360 hooked to my 52" HD TV w/ surround sound and I have to say it's pretty damn sick - the graphics are great.
Now I just have to buy a copy of the game and get some free time to check out the multiplayer. Anyone ever tried the mouse/keyboard convertors for the 360?
