COD4 Modes?
Are there any COD4 modes that resemble a BF2 type game... Get and hold a point.. if you die you respawn somewhere and can resume in mission?? I really am not liking the Counterstrike like play I see so far...

Free for all, team deathmatch, domination (not sure what domination is... maybe Capture the Hill?), sabotage (pretty fun... respawns are a go, and there's a bomb that has to be carried into an objective. The person carrying the bomb will drop it when killed, and the other team can pick it up. Like a two-way CSS demolition map).
Search and destroy is the no-respawn team deathmatch thing. |

domination is capturing prexisting control points. These points can go back and forth between teams.
Headquaters: my favorite, a headquaters will pop up on the map, whichever team gets to the headquaters and captures it (similiar to a control point) will own the point. All long as they own it, the team gets points. The enemy can destroy it by standing close to it. If you die and your team owns the headquaters, you have to wait until the headquaters is destroyed to respawn. This usually doesn't take long, once a few team members die, your just out-numbered. I don't remember the exact time, but after a set time the headquaters will disappear and a new one will spawn in a different location. Once again both teams are able to capture it. Your team will only win if it holds headquaters longer than the other team. In sabotage, the teams fight over one bomb. You can respawn if you die. The bomb has to be planted and a timer is set. The enemy can defuse the bomb and if they do, you lose I believe.

Boy do I hate search and destroy. I think I would enjoy most of the other game modes. Can we get a different mode on our server? or perhaps multiple servers?
Is the TG server really going to be no crosshair S&D like it was tonight or did I just come when we were trying out that gamemode?

Domination and Headquarters, both are a lot of fun. Headquarters is about one point and one point only which rotates around the map. Domination are about 3 set points of which you need 2 for bleed.

glad you are here help. I seem to remember getting bashed when i made comments in the Battlefield forums like this....but o well.
The Server is on hardcore and will most likely stay on it. Makes the games that much slower and more thought out. Dont start to compare this to BF2 or any other game, its new and different.

how bout a poll for the TG community to see what our server will be like?
I understand that hardcore search and destroy was/is popular at TG. But TG has a fairly large player base and has expanded into several different games. I know that hardcore S&D does not appeal to some members of TG, but I appreciate that it appeals to some of you. It seems to me we need a compromise. I could see tactical games being played out in game modes below. The opportunities this offers for a server are fairly cool. * Team Objective - Domination and Search & Destroy. Capture flags in Domination, with respawning. Destroy and defend objectives in Search & Destroy, no respawning. * Search and Destroy - Much like Counter-Strike's bomb planting mode, there are two teams: attackers and defenders. Attackers try to plant a bomb at one of two bomb sites, and defenders try to defend the bomb sites. If explosives are planted, defenders must defuse them. Players only have one respawn per round. A round is over when all players on one team are killed, or when the bomb explodes or is defused. * Headquarters - A laptop spawns somewhere on the map. Your goal is to capture the laptop for your team. If Team A captures the radio, they must defend it from being destroyed by Team B. Team A only has one respawn until the laptop is destroyed or the max time limit for the laptop is reached. Team B respawns at set intervals. Team A earns points for every second the laptop is held. To capture/destroy a laptop, you must stand in the area of the laptop. The more players, the faster you destroy it. A new laptop spawns when time limit is reached or the laptop is destroyed. * Domination - There are flags at certain points around the map. All flags start neutral. Teams battle to hold the most flags. Game ends when the time limit is reached, or the score limit is reached. * Sabotage - Similar to Search and Destroy, only the bomb is neutral and there are objectives located in both teams' bases. Each team's goal is to take the bomb and blow up the objective in the enemy's base. The bomb carrier can fire his weapons, but his position will be announced periodically throughout the game. Also, unlike Search and Destroy, players have unlimited respawns as opposed to just one per round, although it is not instantaneous like Team Deathmatch or Free-for-All. * Ground War - Big team games-TDM and Domination.

We get that, we arent gonna make the server suck, trust us. Another thing to think about is this isnt anywhere close to bf2. As in no respawns, class limits....and such. Lets try to play the game for more then 12 hours before people start "suggesting" changes.

Well, please do consider setting up Domination, or Headquarter nights. I fail to see how those modes can't be considered "teamwork" modes. You have a decent sized group that have been pubbing that variety of game since COD4 was released and it would be great to find a home here also.

All modes are being considered, dont get me wrong but for now S&D is going to be the main Mode. Im sure others will have there nights.
