COD4 & Programming mouse buttons

Just got COD4 and apparantly it is not possible to use my extra mouse buttons to replicate keystrokes like you can on BF2. I read somewhere that COD series games only recognize 3 mouse buttons (left, right, and middle). Is this true?

No...I have my VOIP enabled in my mouse5 button.

What kind of mouse do you have and are the drivers installed?

Re: COD4 & Programming mouse buttons

Do you have your Mouse Buttons assigned to anything (like Foreward and Back) in Setpoint? I found that If I bind my buttons to anything in SetPoint that they can not be bound to anything in certain games and you have to unbind them in SetPoint to allow them to bind in the game. I use the Logitech G5 (the new model with 2 side buttons)

I have MB4 set to Knife and MB5 set to VOIP as well as MW_Up set to Change weapon and MW_Dwn set to call in air/uav/chopper

Re: COD4 & Programming mouse buttons

I had a wireless mouse that had the same issue (don't remember which makes, but it was a logitech.) I switched back to my MX510 and haven't had any issues.

Oh wow, I did not know that. Maybe that explains why in Crysis I couldn't bind the thumb button on my G5 (old version) to anything. Because in Setpoint I do have that thumb button bound to 'double click'. I'll have to try that out later. Thanks for the tip.

Re: COD4 & Programming mouse buttons

Well, I use the 3rd button on the side on my G5 (old version too) and it works perfectly, except its set on generic button in setpoint, and it still continues to "press back" when I'm in a web page, and if I set it to do nothing, then it won't activate at all. Really frustrating when I'm browsing and chit-chatting on TS. I've got to move my cursor down the my task bar and then chat, and then move it back up to continue what I was doing. I've actually been using OS implementation most of this time, and just switched back to Setpoint implementation today.

Re: COD4 & Programming mouse buttons

If I were to use the middle button for Ts, I'd be throwing nades all the time.

Re: COD4 & Programming mouse buttons

Definitely set the side buttons to "Generic" in SetPoint. They'll still work the same except there's a greater chance they'll be recognized in games. Logitech is brilliant, I know.

It's a pity the same can't be said for the numpad - it's disabled
