Question Is a 'Climbing' mod possible?

Jumping and hopping up and down slopes is just annoying as hell and really ruining the single player game for me.

Is a climbing Mod do-able in theory?

Thanks!

I think having to press a USE key to climb a ladder is absolutely hilarious.

Have you seen any FPS game with realistic obstacle climbing? I don't mean like thief wall climbing, I mean like rocks, uneven cliffs, and general obstacles. It's certainly not possible as a mod. I'm sure building it into any FPS would be quite a problem.

The whole 'USE' to climb a ladder bugged me too.

Well, they made an animation for it, instead of floating up them. Battlefield does the same, but you don't have to "use."

The ladders in ArmA are by far the worst I have ever seen, most times I get to the top only to stand up and fall down the shaft again. or sometimes it just refuses to acknowledge that I am no longer on the ladder and wont let me move. Because of that I have no problem with the Crysis ladders, I like the way you look down as you reach the top of the ladder as well. The thing I find annoying is haveng to press f to pick up ammo.

Aliens VS Predator. Aliens could climb walls.

I actually love having to actually interact with guns to take ammo.

In the beta, with ladders, you'd climb up them and would see yourself as you got on/off it.

2142 has one the worst ladder bugs ever: you get on a ladder at the bottom, and your character's model quickly flashes at the top, giving yourself away big time. Not sure if thats been fixed in the last patch, but quite annoying if its still there.

He beat me to it! But also featured in AvP2, which followed with pretty much the same mechanism for bugs and was better overall.

But to elaborate, the aliens could climb on any solid surface provided that it was wide enough. The bug's wall-climb algorithm tended to get confused as to which surface it would latch onto first on really thin objects like wires and such and you'd end up running concentric circles around the object you were trying to wall-walk on. It looked kind of funny, actually.

Hmmm... now I miss playing that game, come to think of it.

To that effect, I figure the Cryengine2 would make a fabulous AvP[x] game.

Aliens Vs Predator 2 had some amazing multiplayer. Survivor was such an amazing game type concept.

Yeah, my favorite map by far was Quarantine. That level was the shiz, especially for survivor mode. Holing up the human survivors in the containment lab downstairs made for some truly epic defensive hold-outs. The vents could be fun too, lol. Crysis' engine would be so perfect for a game like this.
