After playing server 1 and 2......

I'm enjoying playing server 1 over 2 for a variety of reasons:

1) I like my map. I like seeing my teammates on the map and their position relevant to me. I like seeing enemy positions (muzzle flash) via the map. I find using a compass very helpful in letting my teammates know of enemy positions.
2) I like cross hairs. They help me aim better.
3) I like seeing how much ammo and grenades I have left to use.
4) I like the mixed game modes and quicker respawn times. I like getting into the game quickly and don't want to be penalized for being a less skilled player.

Now this is not a diss on server 2 but I feel more comfortable and it's more enjoyable for me to play server 1 for the stated reasons. However, it seems like server 2 is generally more populated on any given night. I've had some great full rounds on server 1 but 2 seems to always have a larger player count. Does server 2 just cater more to the tastes of those who play COD4 at TG?

One small mention on 2: use your crosshairs for close encounters. Hip shooting has horrible accuracy.

Once you learn the maps and get used to CoD 4, you'll find you won't need the map, ammo counter, grenade counter (you only have 1 grenade and 1 special grenade anyway - unless you take the 3 Grenade perk), etc, etc.

I'll say the opposite. If you are on server 2 and an enemy isn't behind cover, just spray your gun at them. One bullet should kill them and the time saved from bringing up the iron sights will benefit you. Hip shooting has horrible accuracy but the spread will likely hit your target and kill him.

This doesn't apply very well to LMGs.

Re: After playing server 1 and 2......

There are things I like about both gametypes/servers.

I love the weapon damage of hardcore. It's unforgiving and even though it drives me crazy to catch a bullet 10 seconds into a round sometimes it's also what makes it quite exciting. There is very little margin for error.

Map/Compass is really needed for hardcore. This has been discussed in other threads. I don't mind not being able to see player positions but we need a compass to communicate and coordinate movement.

Crosshair off I don't mind but I do consider it to be pointless. Anyone who really wants a "crosshair" can just put a little dot on their monitor anyhow so not much point in this.

The lack of HUD info I sympathize with. In terms of realism it makes sense to not know how many bullets you have left in a particular clip but on the other hand, how is it your little soldier doesn't know how many grenades he has left? Is he unable to look down and count to 3? So what is "hardcore" about this setting? Not sure.

As for life expectancy/skill level, as you get used to the ruleset/maps you will find you start to live longer. I found when I first started playing this game mode I was being WAY too aggressive and as a result I died pretty quickly. Now I've made some adjustments in my game and other than the odd bad round I do pretty well.

Re: After playing server 1 and 2......

I know I was surprised to see that server 2 on average has more players then server 1. Especially after the heated debate on what rules and changes should be brought onto the TG COD 4 servers. I thought for sure server 1 would have been more popular.

I only play server 2 and the only thing I wish for is a compass (this is only after I learned the maps). Some grid markers with labels i.e A1, B1 would be nice on the "esc" key map to call out positions as well but I would settle for just a compass.

Yes, me likes the server numero uno best too. Maybe those that do like more arcade, unrealistic but still tactical gaming? Am i totally off? Don't think so.

I like server 2 the most. Only because of hardcore. I'd love to see domination mixed with S&D though.

Server 2 is the obvious tactical server of choice for me...

Once the mod configuration is figured out, it will be even better. trust!

More realistic it is, the better for me. I am a big time realism fan. I know it is weird.

Love to see the X that displays when get a hit gone. Would love to see the obituaries. The one that says You Killed So and So...

Would really really love to see the speed decreased a bit more. I have been to servers that has done this already... Especially the speed reduction... It is a godsend tactical gameplay.

I find the movement speed pretty realistic right now. Any slower and it would be unrealistic.

They also need to remove the ability to hit TAB and see deceased enemy units...

Re: After playing server 1 and 2......

Told ya, my kind of realism is scary to some people... They freak out just reading my post and ideas... Realism is something that got me hooked since the first CoD.

Calm down. I have no influence on the decision making about the server settings.
