Battlefield depression
Battlefield is fun and very fast paced, but after playing it, one feels drained mentally and physically. I understand physically and mentally. The body works hard to produce chemicals such as epinephrine and such that stimulates the body and mind. The mind is effected, but how. I am not sure, but what I do know is that it makes you concentrate on the game to the point of agitation in some cases...
Point is I noticed the Battlefield series can cause a real drain on ones' body. Does anyone else notice this?

Re: Battlefield depression
Most of us play this after a long day of normal life. I find if I'm at the tail end of my meds, or I haven't eaten in a while, or am dehydrated or sleep deprived I get a real brain-drain. You don't want me as your squad-leader then, I can tell you.
Several other people could tell you too. ![]() It's not exactly a relaxing hobby, especially if you're squadleading. Take a break, get up ever hour or two (I go three maps) and then get up, take out the garbage, get a snack or a glass of water, look out the window--change the input to your brain, get some blood flowing. When you come back, you'll be recharged and ready to go. If you're not, it's time to stop.

I dont find myself mentally drained, just bored really. BF2 gets old after a hour or two of playing for me. Especially now because of .7

Re: Battlefield depression
I take anti-depressants before I start a session, then I take more after my first intentional TK by n00bX733t_1. Then I just try to die!

Re: Battlefield depression
Ya. I hear ya on the physical stress...it can be a bit unnerving when that APC takes you down when you least expect it. Three cheers for Axis on the good habits. That's probably good advice for everyone, too.
I've noticed that other folks will drop when they get really frustrated. That is probably a good habit, too. (i.e. better than inducing a stress related injury to your nervous system or circulatory system.) SSA out.

). So when your done playing BF2 you feel exhausted because after epinephrine is released and begins to wear off, other chemicals cause the body to go into a state of rest hence feeling tired. So instead of playing battlefield 2 mentally straining. Just relax, cool your mind down, and shrug off any anger if you die. I find that my game is much better when im relaxed, communicating with other over voip, and taking things slow. Don't be this guy: |

Re: Battlefield depression
sorry...i didn't mean to totally make light of your post.
to answer the question, my honest answer is that I don't feel a noticable drain. Maybe that makes me the oddball of the bunch, but I find the game very stimulating and become extremely engrossed in the experience. Often times i'll be wiped out from work, and plan on playing one map on BF. Four hours later I'm sneaking into bed....

Xcannon, I always keep a book by my desk for long loading times to avoid that situation...

Re: Battlefield depression
my mind races when I hear the world going by... often it says 'take cover you don't know what kind of grenade your boss might throw at you.'
Actually guys, it has been found that gaming for long hours can kill: do not play for more than 2 days- it killed a Korean.

I play in chunks of up to about 5 hours, mostly though I only get to play as much as 3 hours a day. Minus the time spent on TG.com and other websites.
