Re: 8800gt

Got this a bit ago: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130319

Very nice card, handles everything I've throw at it (including Crysis, almost maxed) very well.

Re: 8800gt

I get most of my stuff at newegg, but sometimes bestbuy throws some pretty good deals. They have 20% off all PNY cards this week. The 8800gt is $239
See them here

I picked up a BFG 8800GT OC 512 for $237 there on sale about a month ago.
I can run Crysis and Frontlines Beta on max and get ~60 FPS CoD4 and BF2 100+FPS

Newegg: eVGA NVIDIA 8800GTS 320GB for $219.99

$20 rebate. Total after rebate: $199.99
Shipping: $6.33

Re: 8800gt

The 8800GT would spank that GTS, and is a single slot card that runs cooler and more quiet.

Re: 8800gt

Damonte has not seen any information that indicates that the 8800GT outperforms the 8800GTS significantly.

$199.99 for a video card of that capability is excellent.

Re: 8800gt

Here is a comparison tool from Tomshardware.com

I have found this pretty handy comparing different cards.

Re: 8800gt

Like that link above shows, the 8800GT beats even the 8800GTS 640mb in most benchmarks, and that is what other review sites said as well.
I paid $370 for my 8800GTS 640, and was kind of pissed when the 8800GT came out a month later for more than $100 cheaper.
Plus, like I said, it runs cooler and quieter, it is single slot sized, and it uses less power, so may help with people that don't want to up grade their PSU if they have just an average one now.
@sc1ence--what Power supply do you have right now?

Re: 8800gt

So how much did you end up paying? Had to be more than $300 even with that break.

Re: 8800gt

Holy crap you should take it back and get the new ATI that just came out today for $450.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...0+X2&x=25&y=36
The X2 blows a 8800GTX out of the water, and there are at least 20 reviews out this morning since the NDA was released.
If you don't like the ATI, the Nvidia X2 version is supposed to be out in 2 weeks.
Did you price the card you bought on newegg? I went to the local Compusa when it was closing, and the things I was looking at were actually still cheaper on newegg.
