New Monitor question

I just installed a new DELL 24" monitor and I hooked it up using VGA connection. It has a DVI connection also and I was wondering what it is used for and should I get a DVI cable and use that?

dvi is digital, so it will give a better picture over the analog d-sub

Does your video card have DVI output? I believe that is closer to an uncompressed digital signal and you should get a better picture.

Thanks guys, I have DVI from the video card and I will be getting a cable and testing it out.

I'm using four of them right now and haven't ever had a problem.
