Re: The "Things to Figure Out" Thread
The EMP rocket seems to have 2 proximities. I played for quite some time with it last night and it seemed to need to be closer to ground vehicles than it did helo's. Or maybe, it will air burst near a helo, but will burst on the ground if you hit terrain near a ground target.
Also confirmed that the C4 drone is strong enough to take out a tank.

Re: Role unlocks
I found as EMP tech., I could only see the controlling soldier when he had a drone active. This worked even when he "parked" the drone and was on the move. The simple fact that he had a drone in the field made him visible to me.

Re: Role unlocks
I'm beginning to see the power of the EMP. Does anyone know the difference between the standard triangle and the multiple triangles and looks like arrows that often show on Drones while the EMP player?

Re: Role unlocks
We definitely need to do some testing with the EMP tech. Does he only see Drone techs? It stands to reason that he should be able to see Airstrike specialists as well, but probably doesn't. Time to do some messing around on an empty server.
Anyone want to guinea pig this with me?

Re: The "Things to Figure Out" Thread
I think Air Strike guys show up as well. I recall sneaking up on several guys that had triangles, but were getting bomb kills. Although they could have been Drone spots. Might be the difference between a single triangle and the triangle with arrows.

Re: The "Things to Figure Out" Thread
Precision strikes occur about 10 seconds after called.
Minimum safe distance seems to be about 20m. Players jog at 4m/sec and sprint at 6m/sec. A "lifting barrage" is an artillery/CAS strike that ends at a specific time. The term comes from WWI when arty would cease at a prescribed time and the assault would be timed to end right after it ended. So you can apply a precision strike from 60 meters away and walk into radius just after the strike hits. Or you can sprint from 80m and enter radius just after the strike hits. (For reference, those distances would be 200m sprinting and 300m in a tank in vanilla BF2). There does seem to be different damage values based on where tank rounds hit but I cannot figure out the values. |

Re: The "Things to Figure Out" Thread
Taken from another thread I started..
There seems to be a little confusion of the EMP Tech capabilities. Hopefully this helps..... Countermeasure Support Role: Use EMP technology to disable enemy vehicles. Especially useful for preventing enemy air strikes via drones. Abilities for this role are the same for both the Western Coalition and the Red Star Alliance. Red Star Alliance Rank 1: CS5 CaoShan - This Radar Absorption Module absorbs enemy drone transmissions, rendering them useless. Also tracks enemy positions of drones, operators, and EMP generators. Red Star Alliance Rank 2: SHJ11 Shan Huo Jian EMP Rocket - This EMP rocket knocks out any enemy machinery in the area. Red Star Alliance Rank 3: SPS-212 Perun Electronic Attack Pod (EAP) - This device is a stand-alone pod that disables and scrambles all nearby electronical devices, including drones, vehicles, and air strikes that are deployed within its radius. Western Coalition Rank 1: MK9E Disruption device - Using a disruption device, disable enemy radar and data collection. Also capable of visually identifying drones, operators, and EMP devices. Western Coalition Rank 2: PREMP-3 Zeus EMP-Rocket - This EMP rocket can disable vehicles. It is unguided, but has a proximity fusing system that detects when it is near an enemy target and allows it to detonate. Western Coalition Rank 3: AN-422 “Lightning Rod” Portable Electronic Attack Module (PEAM) - Deploys the PEAM, a device capable of distrupting enemy transmissions and disabling vehicles, drones, and air strikes. |

Re: The "Things to Figure Out" Thread
If an EMP stick is elevated (top of a building), is it effective against items on the ground below it, is it producing a downward cylinder of protection? We know it creates an upward vertical cylinder of protection but what about downward??
