Bug or gameplay

I was playing Oil Fields tonight and I ran into something that seemed a little odd.

Everytime I got a lock on a helicopter I would fire and invariably they would shoot off flares and my rocket went zooming off into who knows where. So I started getting my lock on waiting for the flares then after the flares were shot, I lost my lock on and I couldn't get a lock on the same flyer until I died. I unzoomed, switched weapons and back, but nothing. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thats strange Cat. It has got to be a bug, I can do exactly what you were trying to do without any problems. In fact, I never loose the lock on when they shoot off the flares.

There might be something happening if the helicopter is going in and out of "stealth mode". Have not seen that happen first hand.

I'ld like to know how to fly the thing and not crash within seconds. I can the 2142 gunships, but these seems really touchy to me.

for a DC chopper veteran like me, these FOW choppers feel slightly unresponsive to me

A few assumptions here...did you like to fly with inverted axis? Have you tried to changed the sensitivity for just the helos? I noticed that randomly, sometimes my changes are saved and sometimes not. I fly the old school mouse/keyboard way and have not had problems on this game. Is it possible that one of your settings is not saved like you think it is? I bought a lazer mouse recently where you could change sensitivity on the fly and that seemed to help some of the inconsistencies I felt between games.

I find that it's insanely easy to do rolls in these helis, they don't have the auto-anti-flip that the 2142 gunships do......And you know what? I like it!!! *crashes into a smoke stack*

In the trade off between automatic stability in the air and flying dexterity, DC choppers crash a lot for learners and are a joy the flag in complex ways for vets
