Crysis have sold 1 million copies as of February 1
Not to bad for a game that require a lot of hardware. This is great news personally for me as I was worried that high end graphics on the PC was dying and everything was going towards the in my view boring concept of one size fits all mainstream console way, but these number tell a diffrent story. PC gaming seem to be far from dying.
http://planetcrysis.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=147650 If we get a great MP mod, there might still be hope for this game. I plan to get myself a nvidia G100 or ATI 770 in the second quarter and be ready to play the single player again and hope for a good reception of OE2 or living legends mods. And as Battlefield with Heroes now finally has gone to the way of a commercialism to the extreme with a simple cartoon game for the masses mods like OE2 for crysis might be one of the few hopes of ever seeing a BF2 style game with next gen graphics. |

Same here, next gen graphics now seem to be scheduled for late Q2. Thats what I am waiting for, on ATI side the rv770 suppose to be 50% faster than RV670. That means Nvidias GT200(G100) or whatever they call it should be a monster and just what the doctor ordered for crysis
, and maybe ATI with R700 which is two rv770 will put up a good fight.Last edited by Red; 02-15-2008 at 10:53 AM. |

Apparently the nVidia 9600 GT is set for release some time tomorrow...
When I get my new rig in the Summer, I'm going all out, and probably going to get the 9800 GTX, which will apparently be out by then, and if I'm feeling stupid I might even get two in a dual SLI setup, which will mean high FPS with high graphics settings...(I know I'll need stupidly huge and reliable power + amazing cooling) and I won't have to update my system for like...years...

Re: Crysis have sold 1 million copies as of February 1
There is with no doubt cards coming out within 4 months that will finally bring us to the next step in gaming visuals. I am having my eyes on R700 from AMD/ATI, the RV700 is suppose to be 50% faster than the 3870 and R700 is two RV700, rumored street date is june.
The 9800 GTX might be just a refresh of the G92 simliar to 9600 GTs G94 with more power not sure how much more power though, currently the rumor is just around 30% faster than Ultra. The next gen from Nvidia is also going to be interesting specially if ATI can show great performance with the 700 series, I believe we will see a response from nvidia in kind, and that card is most likely not 9800GTX. More info on the 4000 series from ATI here. http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33916399 |
