FFoW splash damage and range testing

Myself, JB4, silver, kebab, and big-eye just did some testing. We experimented on the streets level and used the Sidewalk squares and squad-leader order to measure distances for grenade splash damage, grenade-launcher splash damage, c4 splash damage, c4 detonator range, emp rocket splash effectiveness range, and drones spotting range. We'll add more as we test more, but in the mean time here's what we found:

Drones

Grenades

Grenade Launcher (Assault Rifle)

C4 (Spec Ops loadout)

EMP (Counter-measures Role)

Anti-Vehicle Rocket

Re: FFoW splash damage and range testing

I think the biggest discoveries were A) that the grenade and grenade-launcher are pretty much useless and B) that the recon drones can perform duties from WAY above the battlefield.

Re: FFoW splash damage and range testing

It seems to me that grenades and the grenade launcher would still be good for distractions or if you enemy is in an enclosed area.

Also alot of people will still tend to run if a grenade lands nearby because of previous gaming experience. Atleast until they realize that it needs to be point blank to really hurt them.

I'd have to agree with scattershot here, plus you can get lucky. Here's a video of my typical assault on Fuel Station. Yes I used all four of my grenades, but I tend to die a lot and the resupply crates seem to be fairly abundant on Streets. I did get one kill with the grenades and the other was a nice Melee

Would have put it on youtube for easier access, but I tried a different render and the file size was beyond youtube capabilities and I didn't feel like re-rendering it

Thanks for your efforts in testing. This is very helpful at this time, we'll see what happens in the final release.

Re: FFoW splash damage and range testing

Cool tests. I thought I read somewhere that GL and grenade blast radius were the same (1m). I can't remember where I saw that though.

For GL you really have to aim for a direct hit instead of hitting the ground and going for a splash kill like you can in a lot of other games. Although keep in mind it's not always about getting the 1-shot kill. You can seriously wound someone with a near miss then finish them off with a bullet and they will be pretty much blind due to damage in the meantime.
