FFoW map scaling and map size

We had a few good sets on a Street server last night.... it was about 5 vs 5, and what I noticed was that although it was a larger map, the frontlines mechanism effectively scaled the map for us! We held the fueling station flag, while the other team held statue... and the fighting went back and forth like a 16p BFx map.... there were really just two flags on the map to fight over.

Anyway - I've been trying to dig into how the maps will work. Here is a fairly informative thread I found where one of the guys from koas states that maps don't have different sizes like the 16/32/64p maps of BFx.

I wonder how this will play out? Hopefully all the maps will be fairly large and, like I experienced last night, the frontlines mechanism will scale the game play appropriately!

Re: FFoW map scaling and map size

I've seen as few as 8 players on Oil field (4 per side). Tha Khan and I worked our side of the map while the other 2 WC players worked the other side. Seemed to play just fine. Even the final push to the RS base wasn't a chore.

On a side note, as soon as I have my pristine release copy in hand, I intend to make map guides for FFOW.

Along the lines of the ones done for BF2142 and BF2.

Re: FFoW map scaling and map size

some of the other maps will have 3 points to fight over, maybe more but early in the beta, there was a different map and it had 3 points. This should help with a lot of people on the server.

Yeah, I remember hearing one of the dev's mention 4 CP's on one frontline in some video somewhere. My main concern is how many of the 8 MP maps will support large player counts... guess we'll wait and see!!

Yea the frontlines mechanic seems to be a good one. I hope the maps are large but also maps like street are good.
