Re: Vista/SecureROM fixes identified

I just installed the patch a few mins ago and it did nothing to help my VISTA Ultimate install run, The game Installed fine and starts fine, As soon as I start a game, about 15seconds into it the game freezes for about 4 or 5 seconds then starts again then stops again and does this over and over again making the game Unplayable, Did this befor the patch and after the patch, can't seem to find a fix yet but I am not giving up, It Installed and runs great on my XP pro install, I have 2 OS's on my system, It is as follows

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium socket 939
AMD 4800 X2
EVGA- 8800GTX 768
2- gigs OCZ Platinum gammers extreme EL
onboard AC97 8 channel sound
6- 200gig western digital sata 3's raid stripe in pairs of 2
2- 500gig western digital sata 3's non raid
3- Liteon DVD/CDRW 20x burnners W/LS technology
1- Plextor DVD/CDRW 20X Burnner W/LS technology
850watt OCZ Extreme Gammer PSU
I am running VISTA ULTIMATE (32) on one drive and XP pro (32)on another not set as dual boot just use boot menu to change between each so one does not know other is there
All drivers and directX are up to date and both OS's are all updated as far as they will go except language packs
I have a bunch of cd and dvd copy software on my xp system like roxio.dvd ripper, Nero 8 ultra, DVD Santa, and more, Power ISO , Magic ISO and this is what kills me, that the game runs great and on my VISTA it is a fresh install and the game studders and won't run right,

I will try to post back if I come across a fix of some kind cause the patch did nothing but reset all my settings back to default, as I am typing this I am thinking that i ran the game from a saved game and haven't tried to start a new one so I am gonna go try that now, Peace out HAWK33

Frontlines is not the only Game who has problems with that dammet X-FI ****

Thats why it works on XP: because it dont use that dammet OpenAL for sound

Re: Vista/SecureROM fixes identified

UPDATE from RAGE....

OK, for my vista issue this is what worked for me...w00t...

I am running a XFi extreme gamer Fatal1ty edition. What I did was download and install the openAL file here...File is here
Tried to run FFoW with no luck so I disabled ALL of my sound devices including my onboard sound, why I had both running I have no idea...maybe that was part of the issue. Anyways, after disabling all sound devices, BINGO game worked. I went back in and re-enabled my Xfi devices and BINGO again, game runs. I have yet to stress test it but I am up and running....I now have the most up to date system on the planet! Thanks goes out to all the people on Kaos's forums and especially to one of our former TG'ers ZoopyT, he originally posed the idea that it may be sound based. +rep for zoopy when you see him!

Hawk, turn your Foliage setting all the way down.

Rage, make those cheques out to Zoopy. If the American dollar is low, send Canadian dollars.

Re: Vista/SecureROM fixes identified

Hi,

Just curious, I really want to buy Frontlines for my computer. But I'm running Vista and have read nothing but nightmares about it. Have the latest patches fixed most of the problems or should I wait?

JameDog, no need to put your question in multiple threads, we will almost always catch it somewhere. For you tecnical questions, try to keep them in this forum for best results. Here is the answer I gave you in your other thread.

If you are, we will be more than happy to try to help you through the issues so you can play with us here at TG, welcome to our community, check out the required reading in my sig and I look forward to seeing you on the Frontlines.

Re: Vista/SecureROM fixes identified

Wow, that was interesting. I've been playing fine and all of a sudden I got the SecureROM error today. Glad they have a hotfix for this already It works right? lol

I have PC Tools Spyware Doctor installed on my computer. Some time before Frontlines was released it kept giving me errors so I disabled it. Last night I reinstalled and updated it, now I get this error. I wonder if has something to do with spyware blockers running also.
