Guide to fan noise and case thermodynamics

A guy just did a really detailed long post about case fans and such, and wanted to pass it on.
Good easy read and will help you make a more informed decision.

Re: Guide to fan noise and case thermodynamics

A nice write up but I'm a little skeptical about some of his claims. He doesn't back up any of his theories about negative pressure in the case vs. positive pressure. He also states that its better to have the CPU cooler draw air away from the heatsink then blow air through it. Again no imerical data to back this up. I have a hard time buying into the heatsink theory as the majority of heatsinks come designed to blow air through them. The negative vs. positive pressure is debatable, I the positive pressure argument also has the benefit of repelling dust more so.

Still a good read but do some more research before designing your case to be sure of what will work.

Good points Long Bow.
I thought the same things, but still has a lot of info to think about to help people plan out a rig.
