PC Internet Connection Problem...

And I am back with another problem with my PC, as if my luck isn't bad enough.

I woke up this morning, powered up my computer, and WHAM, no internet. First I thought it might be an issue with the modem and router, so I power cycled both. Still the same issue. I turned on my mother's PC (the one I'm typing on now) to test the internet connectivity. Internet works fine.

My PC Specs and Internet Setup:

ASUS P5PE-VM (using the onboard NIC)
Pentium D 805
1 GB of DDR400
GeForce 7600GS
120 GB HDD
Audigy LS
DVD-ROM
DVD+-RW DL
Floppy Drive
480W PSU, Thermaltake PurePower series

5 PCs connected via wireless G cards
Linksys WRT54GL (latest Linksys firmware)
Speedstream 4100B aDSL Modem

So it's my PC. Here's the steps I took:

1) Unplugged network cable and tested it using my cable tester. Results came back fine.
2) Switch the cable with one that does work. Same problem.
3) Rolled back driver on onboard NIC. Same problem.
4) Rebooted system, and tried internet again. Same problem.
5) Disabled and reenabled onboard NIC. Same problem.
6) Rebooted system, installed a wireless G card, rebooted system again. The MSI wireless utility said that I was connected so I tried browsing to Google. Same problem.
7) Now I'm backing up my files in preparation for a reformat.

Before I reformat...is there some other steps I should take? Anyone have a similar experience?

Re: PC Internet Connection Problem...

I ran the 'netsh' command and no luck still.

I've started my reformat.

i wish i would have seen this post before you started to reformat. That little tool has saved me many of nights of "fixing" net issues.

Re: PC Internet Connection Problem...

Hmm, thanks a bunch Trooper. I'll save it for future use.

I just can't believe the netsh command had no effect. It was supposed to rebuild my winsock2.
