2142 Platoon Leader Nomination and Election

Dear Fellow Irregs,

As you may know, both of our 2142 Platoon Leaders have stepped down from their positions due to real life constraints. However, a snake cannot be without its head and our platoons cannot be without their leaders. So, the O-Corps will use this opportunity to test our new Platoon Leader election system. This system will allow the players in the platoons to elect a peer they feel is worthy of leading them and to allow players to organize themselves into groups they enjoy playing with.

The election process will be broken into two stages: 1) Nomination and 2) Voting. In order to flush out inactive members from the roster, only those who posted in the 2142 Irregs Check-In will be allowed to participate in the election process. These Irregs will also comprise the new official roster. After seeing how many spots we now have left after the check-in, we will open up recruitment for 2142 to fill those spots. The new recruits and re-enlistees will be assigned a platoon based on space availability.


Stage One: Nomination

The 2142 Irregs on the current official roster (i.e. - checked-in) are asked to send |30+|SirShotALot the names of TWO of their fellow 2142 Irregs that they believe would be able to responsibly take on the role of PL. Their nominations must have checked-in the 2142 Irregs thread, demonstrate organizational and leadership skills, and be active in the 2142 game. Nominations will be taken through Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

The O-Corps will review the nominations and compile a preliminary list of nominees. These nominees will be contacted through PM by the O-Corps for their acceptance of their nomination. Nominees should understand that the following will be expected of them if they are nominated:

• Serve a term of 3 months
• Handle organization of their platoon
• Encourage platoon members to participate in TG events
• Organize small platoon events/game nights
• Communicate frequently with O-Corps
• Uphold standards of behavior expected of the Irregs and of TG personally and in their platoon
• Take an active role in ensure the "fun" had in the platoon

The job does entail some responsibility, but the above list is not meant to scare anyone away from the job. The O-Corps just wants to ensure that we will have PL's that take their position seriously.


Stage Two: Election

A final list of Nominees will be sent through PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. to the 2142 Irregs. Members are to reply to the PM with their ONE VOTE for platoon leader. Vote for the PL you would like to serve under; it will help determine which platoon you will be in. The following will be used to determine the platoon based on the votes cast:

1. Should your candidate be one of the two elected PLs, the candidate you voted for will be your PL
2. If you voted for a candidate not elected, you will be given a second chance to choose your platoon after the results are determined.
3. If you did not vote or enlist after voting, you will be placed in a platoon.

Voting will close on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Results and the new platoons will be posted as soon as we can get everything sorted out. This is your chance to participate in the leadership of the Irregs! Please choose wisely. The O-Corps hopes to expand this to the other platoons if it goes well.

Exactly! Hopefully, this will allow people who are active in game and eager to be active in TG a chance to get a part of that Irregs action!

"A final list of Nominees will be sent through PM," does this mean you will let send every Irregular the list of nominees, or does it mean you will does something else?

What should I do since I leave for a senior trip and I believe I will miss the deadline for voting?

I also noticed something Penguineer, it should be the 4 former platoon leaders, but that is just nitpicking.

The list of nominees will be sent to the 2142 Irregs as a ballot. Also, I guess I meant to say that the 2 newly resigned PLs were left off so no one would nominate them again.

When will you be leaving for your trip? We might be able to advance you a list of nominees before you leave if it looks like the nominations have stopped coming in.
