Re: Does anyone here read chinese?
Post a link to the magazine (or a scan of it) and I'll have my parents translate it.

Re: Does anyone here read chinese?
Curious written language, Chineese is...
My boss is from Taiwan. One day we were all sitting around talking and he was teaching us some characters and I asked about "tree"... he scribbled a small symbol that was easily interpreted as... a tree. Ok... How about Forrest? ... he scribbles a bunch of trees. What perfect sense. |

Re: Does anyone here read chinese?
The text under Eric Zhong basically says "I'm not good enough". wassup's translation seems like an translation out of an online translator which only looks at individual characters.
I don't read simplified chinese perfectly so I can't say for sure what's under Ditte but the first character is indeed rain and the last two should be Denmark, yes. The first scan basically has the typical magazine slogans and sayings... like "fashion analysis, essential items, best accessories". IMO it doesn't translate to english very well as there's a cultural thing to magazines.. there's a line in the first scan that says "bay of love" which makes no sense in english but its a typical way to describe a nice place in chinese. That's also why there's english scattered about on the cover: that's the way magazines are done now. if you want a detailed line by line translation say so, but hopefully someone from mainlandchina will drop in here. I really don't like simplified chinese.

Re: Does anyone here read chinese?
I'll have my parents take a look at both the images when I get a chance this weekend.

Re: Does anyone here read chinese?
First Image:
Title: ELLE "World Garden Fashion Magazine" (roughly translated) Left Line 1: Jung Gore Hone (name - syllable translation) Left Line 2: Hero of the Fashion World (again, rough translation) Left Line 3: Special Plan Left Line 4: Houng City Textile Factory Left Line 5: Dream of the Fashion Industry Left Line 6: "Dream of the Family and Country - " *sigh* I'll get the rest of the translation for you later. Mom's busy and thinks I'm "wasting her time". Just a note, some of this is roughly translated because there are phrases in Chinese that English has no equivilent for. So some meaning is lost.
