thats never really happened...

I've never been so angry mid-round that I almost beat the ESC key into flying off my keyboard.

3 maps of just stupid crap.

tanks running over mines I drop behind them and not blowing up, shooting guys with entire clips to watch them prone and kill me with 1 shot, WTF?

getting knifed a combine 12 times by everyone, man that irks me, but I go on... you are all better than I am, and I expect to be knifed alot.

but there was something just 'not right' about 3 of the 4 rounds I died on (i'd say played on, but I was dead most of the time) this evening between 7:30pm EST and 9:00pm EST.

maybe its time I take a sabbatical again.

see you all on planet alpha.

Ah man...don't let this keep you down.

But I completely understand, sometimes you just need to take a break. I hope to see you again, so does my K-Bar

Re: thats never really happened...

If other in my squads hadn't mention abnormalities / oddities. I'd have just said no big and continued on... but almost the entire squad packed it in after 1 map.

I tried 1 more map, than most. and took a step back, did some breathing. and took it slow. frustration boiled over. and my fant bb teams are sucking too, great..

We all have rough rounds, take a break it does wonders. But what makes me smile is the Park Benches Super Sale ad on the bottom of my screen, so funny.

Re: thats never really happened...

I was getting increasingly frustrated on Odessa and there was some odd rubbish going on.
Constantly getting hosed by enemies when the half mag I fired before does nothing. My SABOT rounds on Guardian must have been made of rubber or something because that was just plain retarded.

I disconnected also and went to play X2 for a bit.

I don't really have anything more specific. even the worst player should be able to put a guy with a knife down, from say 8 feet away, when he's got an assault rifle.

but, on the round with the snow. I made it all the way around to the south side of the check point. thagoat had a tank up on the hill to the south, firing down on our cap'd flag. I got in behind the tank (the long way around). figured AT round wouldn't be enough, and he'd swing and kill me. so I crawled up behind him. drop 2-3 mines in his path, then got back about 20 feet before he started rolling back to avoid our guys AT firing at him. The left tank tread rolled over one of the mines... and then 3 second later, he ran over me. no boom, no nothing.
whats up with that? I see a mine when I'm driving a tank, and I explode. I know thagoat is magic, but come on.

then as pirate said. things didn't feel right. I think we've all got a sense of the game and what just doesn't feel right. I know full well, when I'm not having a particularly good round, night, week, month. I can still find fun, in playing poorly with the group. I have low expectations on myself. this was very different.

Re: thats never really happened...

I did notice some of that too. I think it's more of a,,,"he's already firing or knifing me before my PC reads that it is happening", thing. I don't know. I do know that some nights, I can empty a mag into an enemy and he still kills me and on others, they are easy kills.

See PB you need me there to revive you under fire!!

I know that sometimes when a tank is going backwards, the AT mine does not register.

Re: thats never really happened...

I spend time viewing br now so that I can see if I am crazy or if stuff is really happening. Sometimes, I am nuts, but I have seen some stuff that is just downright suspicious.

E.G. - I was defending a flag in a tank and a guy was laying behind a log. I was unloading on the log right where the guy was because that usually kills me, but it was not killing him. He got up and took one shot then laid back down and his ankle was exposed a bit so I shot at it with a heap round and he lived. I watched that one on BR to confirm and that was the case.

The thing that drives me the craziest is ping. I go head to head with someone who has half my ping and he destroys me for obvious reasons. Then I go head to head with someone double my ping and he kills me because I lag through shots. I cannot figure that one out.

All this being said, we do have to remember that it is a mod and will never be perfect. I get really caught up in the games sometimes(sorry) and forgot that it will have bugs because of that fact. But if someone could explain that ping thing to me, that would be great because ishotcha was kicking my patoot earlier...I think he lives in the same building as the server.

Its mostly the BF2 game engine itself.

Re: thats never really happened...

I understand the engine is buggy, and that ping can effect things. Trust me.

I'm saying : when something is black 99% of the time, when it turns even dark gray, you notice it. I may not remember details, like map names, or if a support gun can take down a little bird, or even have a vague idea what the german medic gun is called. I've played enough to know when something isn't right.

something wasn't right. It wasn't an abnormally low ping, it wasn't an off night by the player, I wasn't drunk.

and Counter, man its a been a while since we squaded up. must be your new Man Room. you must have been busy painting it pink and hanging up unicorn pictures. I know this, cause mine is filled with art / craft supplies. and I can't move to the basement until I get some more power down there.

thanks for everyone throwing in the options. I'll be back, I'm sure. That night just pissed me off way too much. worse then getting sniped by pubbie 500 yards from a white flag.

Re: thats never really happened...

PB,

I just wonder if the problems with the EA login server might have also impaired Punkbuster at the same time. The EA services have been problematic since Monday evening and they are not exactly forth coming on the extent of the problem. If their master account server has issues, I wonder if it could also affect our friends at Evenbalance.

Re: thats never really happened...

The HEAP thing I've seen with well known players as well, so I just assumed it's the same bug that's affecting the SABOT round and they just don't do any damage.
